I heard the story for E.T The Extra-Terrestrial was based on a bollywood script...?

In the 60s Satyajit rayon, ray published a short called
Banku Babu's Friend (Bankubabur Bandhu)
and a Hollywood group had asked him to
turn it into a film scenario that was to be titled "The Alien".

The similarity between stories can be seen with
Mr. Satyajit's alien landing accidentally and having
an immediate l’amour for flowers.

The Indian-American movie project was cancelled
sometime after 1967.


The 1982 Spielberg version made profits worth 800 000 000$
(not counting toys and merchandise sales)
