Well... there was 3 weeks period that they skipped and then 1/2 more days of him with the cast. I don't know how long it takes to heal a broken leg but 3 weeks is not that fast, is it?

I'm not a doctor, but yeah, I was also under the impression that Dean's leg had healed uncommonly fast (one might even say: supernaturally fast.) It didn't really bother me, though. After all, this is a TV show about two brothers who fight demons, ghosts, and monsters on a daily basis; I don't expect it to be 100% realistic.

Well, Dean took the cast off himself before he was supposed to, so it's possible it's not even fully healed. He had the cast on for 3 weeks and they said it was supposed to come off in 5 days. Bone fractures are all different, some take longer to heal than others but I think the minimum is usually about 5-6 weeks. So they definitely cut the healing time short but that's a necessary side effect of tv shows. Healing time for anything is always cut in half. lol

My BFF broke her arm once and she had cast like 2 months or more.

I don't think its that big of a deal, no one wants to watch Dean try and fight something with a big-ass cast on xD

I broke my leg and it took me 4 full weeks for it to heal but 3 weeks is enough time for the bone to be reconnected

Not really. I broke my wrist and was only in a cast for a month. My sister broke her toe and was in a cast for eight weeks. It depends on how bad the break was, where it was, how clean it was, ectect. We don't know anything like that. We don't even know if he truly broke it or if he just fractured it. We just know he injured the bone enough to be put in the cast.

And Dean obviously wasn't healed, as he was limping around after he took the cast off before he was supposed to.

Exactly what bri-marie said. I depends on the type of break, location, etc. I don't think four weeks is an unreasonable amount of time, especially if it was just fractured.

Considering the only time any damage done to them has ever lasted past an episode was when Sam broke his arm but that was because he really did break it out of the show I don't think so.

To everyone saying it depends on the type of break... here's some details that must've been missed from the dialogue, as well as some medical insight. At the beginning of Season 7 Episode 3 as they take them to the hospital, the EMT says: "I got two males -- one with a head trauma, one with an open compound tibia fracture." Open means the bone was sticking out through the skin, compound means there were multiple breaks. Most tibial fractures take 4-6 months to heal, but longer if it's an open fracture OR broken in multiple places. Dean's was both. Often these require surgery (he could've had while he was unconscious but unlikely as he would have a brace instead of a cast to allow room for swelling and to have access to the incision site to prevent infection). Either way, recovery would be more like 12 to 18 months. I agree Dean needs to be up and moving and I wouldn't want to see him hobble around for a season or more, but yeah even with a 3-week time jump, he healed miraculously fast. So they probably shouldn't have said it was an open, compound tibial fracture in the dialogue if they wanted the time frame to be believable. But it is just TV after all, we suspend belief for a lot crazier stuff on this show!
