Ok here's my theory: Sam makes a deal with a demon, quite probably Crowley, in order to get out of Hell. But the demon holds on to his soul as collateral. Sam has to collect the Alphas and deliver them to the demon in order to regain his soul.
Not sure why the demon would want the Alphas. Maybe to recruit them or stop them from building an army?

It seems like it's already been done before. Than again, the SPN storylines have been suspiciously repetitive lately.

@Cinders, The SPN storylines have always been repetitive- in a cyclical kind of way. Mary dies on the ceiling; Jess dies on the ceiling. John makes a deal; Dean makes a deal. Sam runs away to have a normal life; Mary runs away to have a normal life. Dean sacrifices himself; Sam sacrifices himself. It's all in the different details and how they can make it resonate emotionally with the audience.
I suppose you have to ask how much is too much? But since I'm still invested in these characters, for me it's still resonating. :)

This makes sense XD it could be a possibility! The only thing is that Sam really seems like he doesn't care...mmh I don't know, but I guess you could be right! ;)

I know what you mean, and I think sometimes it works. But I also think there's a difference between poetic irony and recycling storylines. It's to the point where I'm not even concerned anymore about either Winchester dying, because I know that someway, somehow, he'll come back to life. Folks rarely stay dead in the world, and it's beginning to bug me. But I apologize, because my frustrations with this one aspect of the series (because I still love the show on the whole) is influencing my pick choices.

Don't know what happened, but I know he's not Sammy anymore. He acts like he's lost his soul- or worse.

Nothing is impossible .. but i'm thinking he made a deal with an Angel, not a demon.

Here are some of my theorys: Sam got possesed in hell, he's still lucifer, he sold his soul to get out of hell, becuase of the Truma of being in hell he doesn't care anymore!!! There's something wrong and it's big, he's not the same old sammy anymore.

@fanfly, they could want to stop the alphas from building An army becuse they don't want anoher war. They've just had the apocalypse, they probably don't want a sevond one. Apart from that I'm not sure.

@Dean-girlx, that's a definitely possibility too. I didn't think of that but it makes sense. Maybe Samuel made some kind of deal too- with an angel. That's how he was taken out of Heaven.

I don't know... Wasn't he supposed to be in a part of hell where he couldn't make contact with demons? I mean look how long it took Azazel to find Luce.

^Interesting point. Although the logistics of Hell are pretty fuzzy. If the cage is in the same location as it was before, then it seems like there would be some demons who were working with Azazel who would know where it was. Plus, if it was Crowley that made the deal, he certainly has excellent methods of finding things. And who knows? Maybe the fact that the cage now houses two humans as well as two archangels makes it easier to find.

And what if it was an angel? Or group of angels? Seems like they'd know where Lu's cage was and could fight their way to it. Or it's possible they have an even easier method to get Sam out. After all, they needed Dean to spend enough time in Hell to break the first seal, so they couldn't have been trying to hard to get him out.

I picked maybe because my theory is that Sam made a deal in exchange for his soul. The deal being that he get's his life back...but with no soul.
