I just got through watching AHBLP2 and realized what Yellow-Eyes' plan might have been. He said (referring to his plan to bring on the end of the world)"No Jake, Not the End, The Beginning. A Better World where your family will be protected..." Maybe he didn't want the demons to destroy it, But take over it, or control it. Like have the demon army take over the world. But then when he died, the plan fell apart, having all the demons in chaos with no leader. Now Lilith is trying to get Lucifer free, But why? Is she going to take over YE's plan? Or, maybe his plan was to bring on the apocalypse, kind of like Hell on Earth.
