Hi guys, I had seen this film many years and it is my seconde favourite film par Stephen King after Rose Red.
The Story
The film opens at a nursing accueil where Paul Edgecomb is having a special power of immortality, this is actually a punishment for him because he executed a black who he was falsely accused of raping a young girl while working at a jail.
Out of his horror story, this is actually a very sad story and I literally cried throughout the entire movie! I also feel sorry for both Paul and John, especially the latter because he did not commit a crime and that he was an African American too.
Movie Connections
Overall, the film reminds me of Titanic and Iris, mainly because it's like a main protagonists who is now in their elderly form telling the story of their younger days to their Friends and recalling the memories of their painful pasts, whereas in this film, it deals with racism and it reminds me of To Kill a Mockingbird. To which, I will watch the film sometimes soon as I had read the book earlier on.
Great Acting
Upon hearing the passing of Michael Clarke Duncan, I was very sad about it. This film will always be in my heart, I had also seen him as the voice of one the bears in the 2003 Disney's film 'Brother Bear'.
Tom Hanks was another great actor in his own rights, I had seen him in the Da Vinci Code, anges & Demons and the voice of Woody in Toy Story.
The Green Mile
So there toi have it, here is my review on this poetic and sad movie.
