'Reign' CW Season 3 Spoilers: Showrunner Dishes On Nostradamus' Return [DETAILS]

One of the most engaging characters on season two of "Reign" was Nostradamus. Seasoned viewers of the CW period drama are wondering if this fan-favorite character will return in the upcoming season of "Reign," airing this fall.

Showrunner Laurie McCarthy spoke to Entertainment Weekly, and cleared the air about seeing Rossif Sutherland\'s character in season three.

She said "He [Nostradamus] will be in the series intermittently, but he\'s still really pissed at Catherine, so I don\'t think he really feels a great desire to be under her thumb again."

McCarthy also added that Nostradamus will still be a visitor to the French court. However, the showrunner did not provide details on when fans can expect the French seer to make an appearance in season three.

Meanwhile, actress Rachel Skarsten, who essays the role of Queen Elizabeth, told the publication that there will a surprise character who returns to the French court. Fans who immediately think that the surprise visitor refers to Condé will be disappointed to learn that the actress clarified it will not be him.

Season three will also travel to the Elizabethan court, apart from showcasing the drama in the French court. With the introduction of Queen Elizabeth to the CW show in season two, fans will now be treated to more drama.

The first guest in the Elizabethan court will be none other than Catherine de Medici, reports another Entertainment Weekly article.

Catherine and Elizabeth are going to have a very personal alliance in season three.

McCarthy explained the dynamics of the relationship between these two extremely strong women.

She said "And that\'s an interesting dynamic between those two women because much like Mary, Elizabeth is someone who really was never parented."

"And Catherine is good at being someone\'s advocate and much like she was Francis\' advocate, she goes over there and she strikes up a very personal alliance with Elizabeth," she explained.

A surprise visitor, two strong women and ample drama are enough to make "Reign" fans tune in to the CW on Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. EST for season three.
