Reverend Ossie Whitworth finally got his comeuppance in tonight\'s (July 8) episode of

In an action-packed instalment, the grotesque character – played brilliantly by Christian Brassington – squealed like a true coward as he was dragged into the woods by his horse and brutally killed.

Ever the sexual predator, Whitworth set a new low as he ditched his mistress to once again force himself on his wife Morwenna (Ellise Chappell). But he couldn\'t resist one last encounter with Rowella, with her husband Arthur Solway having to watch from the window.

Arthur later confronted Whitworth, threatening him with the candle stick that was bought with the money the reverend paid his wife for sex – a bit of twisted irony there – and the two of them got into a fight.

After the reverend\'s lifeless body was dragged away by his horse, viewers took to Twitter to share their delight at his ultimate comeuppance.

With the reverend finally out of the picture, Drake had the all-clear to pursue his true love Morwenna.

But he could be deprived of happiness once again, because dastardly George Warleggan seems intent on pinning the reverend\'s murder on him, following his unsuccessful attempt to frame Drake earlier this series.

Viewers couldn\'t help but feel for Drake, who just can\'t seem to catch a break.
