"AND THEN THERE WERE NONE" (2015) Review

Ever since I gave up lire the "NANCY DREW" novels at the age of thirteen, I have been a fan of those written par Agatha Christie. And that is a hell of a long time. In fact, my fandom toward Christie's novels have extended toward the film and télévision adaptations. Among those stories that have captured my imagination were the adaptations of the author's 1939 novel, "AND THEN THERE WERE NONE".

To be honest, I have seen at least three adaptations of the 1939 novel - the 1945, 1966 and 1974 adaptations - before I had read the novel. Although I found...

"POLDARK" SERIES ONE (2015): EPISODES FIVE TO EIGHT

Within the past year, I had developed a major interest in auteur Winston Graham's 1945-2002 "POLDARK" literary saga and the two télévision adaptations of it. Series One of the seconde adaptation produced par Debbie Horsfield, premiered on the BBC (in Great Britain) and PBS (in the United States) last year. Consisting of eight episodes, Series One of "POLDARK" was an adaptation of 1945's "Ross Poldark - A Novel of Cornwall, 1783-1787" and "Demelza - A Novel of Cornwall, 1788-1790".
Whereas Episodes One to Four adapted the 1945 novel, Episodes...

"THE THREE MUSKETEERS" (1948) Review

There are times when I find myself amazed at the longevity of Alexandre Dumas' 1844 novel, "The Three Musketeers". The novel has been in circulation for nearly 170 years. Hollywood and other film industries have been adapting the novel for the films ou télévision for nearly a century. One adaptation I recently viewed was the Hollywood movie produced and released par MGM Studios in 1948.

We all know the story. A young Frenchman from Gascon sets out for Paris in the early 17th century to rejoindre the King's Musketeers. During this journey, he meets a beautiful,...

"THE MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER" (1953) Review

Tyrone Power's career took a strange turn during the post-World War II years. Although he still managed to maintain his position as one of Twentieth Century Fox's haut, retour au début stars during the remainder of the 1940s, something happened as the 1950s dawned. Powers still found himself in Grade A films during that particular decade. But he also seemed to appear in a growing number of standard costume melodramas.

Twentieth Century renard lent Powers to Universal Pictures to étoile, star in the 1953 drama called "THE MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER". Directed par Rudolph Maté, "THE MISSISSIPPI...

Andrei, as usual, is weary of life. This guy seriously he was born disatisfied with life and sad. Well I guess it isn’t really strange with that crazy, patriarchal, selfish father and that annoying sister of his. However when he meets Natasha at the Rostov family accueil it’s like a fresh breath of life and obviously he fells in l’amour with her. It’s absolutely natural that he feels drawn to her, since Natasha is so charming, pretty and full of life.

Lieutenant Berg, who is set to marry Vera Rostov, discusses the question of her dowry with the Count and he is so much in l’amour with her that...
