John Keats\' "La Belle Dame sans Merci" revolves around a supernatural woman who attracts lovers and winds up killing them, notes Poetry Foundation.

The mysterious woman has been typically thought to be a fairy and it may be interesting to include these winged mythical beings in "Penny Dreadful." 

After all, if ancient Egyptian gods and vampires exist, it makes sense that fairies would too.

Perhaps "Penny Dreadful" executive producer John Logan could include La Belle Dame sans Merci and add in a bit of Irish folklore, which often revolves around fairies.

Percy Bysshe Shelley (husband of English novelist Mary Shelly) wrote a novel called "St. Irvyne; or The Rosicrucian, A Romance."

"St. Irvyne" revolves around a man named Wolfstein who meets a man named Ginotti that claims he has found the secret to immortality, says The Smart Set.

But how will Ginotti\'s story fit into the "Penny Dreadful" plot?

Perhaps Henry Jekyll could find out Ginotti\'s secret about immortality and use it in creating his serum, which causes the birth of his alter ego Edward Hyde.

Finally, it may be interesting if "Penny Dreadful" introduces the Phantom of the Opera.

The original "Phantom of the Opera" (written by Gaston Leroux) follows a young singer named Christine Daee as she struggles to escape the clutches of her "Angel of Music." 

Christine discovers that her "Angel" is a man named Erik, who has a severe deformity and mysteriously plays the Phantom of the Paris Opera house, according to Goodreads.

Perhaps Erik could strike up a friendship with other "Penny Dreadful" characters such as Caliban or Vanessa.

Also, the Phantom would be an excellent ally for Vanessa and Sir Malcolm because he can wield a lasso with deadly accuracy.
