1. I like how the characters' gender roles are reversed. Female characters with traditionally masculine traits, like Katniss' hunting and fighting skills and her emotional distance, have become increasingly common, but these women are normally paired with even plus masculine men. Peeta, on the other hand, has traditionally female traits like being plus emotionally aware, having soft skills like baking and art and public speaking, and being in danger throughout a large part of the series.
