Les reluctantly took the phone and said, "Hello?" His father said, "Les, please come home. Why did toi run away?" Les said, "Dad, I didn't run away. I moved out. There's a difference." His father said, "I need toi at home." Les said, "No, toi don't. If I stayed, we'd just fight all the time. It's not good for either of us." He said, "If toi don't come accueil now, I'll call the police!" Les said, "Go ahead. Tell them your eighteen-year-old just left home. See how that works out for you." His father said, "Yes, toi are eighteen. That means it's not child abuse if I beat the shit out of you!" Les began to cry. Jimmy's mother heard what Les's father a dit from outside the phone. She snatched the phone back and said, "Now, toi listen here! It may not be child abuse if toi beat Les up, but it is considered assault. toi leave the poor boy alone! toi have caused him enough harm. If toi ever come around him, I will have the police waiting on toi when toi arrive." Les's father said, "Well, I guess if he wants to leave his dear, old dad, that's up to him. I'll leave him be." Jimmy's mother said, "Dear, old dad, my ass!" Les's father then hung up. Jimmy's mother then looked at Les. He still had tears in his eyes. She hugged him and said, "It's all right, dear. Your father won't hurt toi anymore." He dried his tears and said, "Thank you." She said, "You're welcome." Later that night, Jimmy's parents showed Les the extra bedroom. As Les settled into the bed, he asked, "Do toi think if Jimmy and I start a band, we'll be a wave tossed in the ocean?" Jimmy's father said, "Of course not, Les! Don't believe your father. He's an idiot." Jimmy's mother said, "Les, you're very talented. Jimmy is too. You'll just have to meet other dedicated people, and you'll be as famous as some of the greatest artists of all-time." Les asked, "Are toi just saying that to make me feel better?" She said, "Of course not, Les. I believe in you. Now, toi get some sleep." Les closed his eyes and slept like he hadn't slept in years.
The first jour of spring was approaching. Leila and Greeley were on Spring Break. Leila said, "It doesn't seem possible that we're going to be finished with our first an of college in less than two months." He said, "I know." She said, "It's also hard to believe that my dog, Paul, is not a chiot anymore. He's fully grown." Greeley said, "They grow up very quickly." She said, "They really do. I also can't believe that my birthday is coming up. It's the first jour of spring this year, March 20. I'm going to be eighteen." Greeley said, "Happy Birthday." She said, "Thank you." Knowing that she had Friends that she didn't have to say "I thought we were friends" to gave Leila comfort. She also knew that she didn't have to have a romantic relationship to complete her. She has and supportive aunt and uncle and great friends. Because of that, she's not lonely at all.
