One Friday night, Erin was listening to the radio in her bedroom. She always like listening to the classic rock station. Sometimes it played some Beatles songs. However, it had been a long jour for Erin. She was exhausted, and she fell asleep. The suivant day, she woke up, and her friend, Allie, was standing suivant to her bed. Allie had a concerned look on her face. She asked, "Erin, are toi okay?" Erin replied, "I'm fine. Why do toi ask?" Allie said, "Well, for one thing, it's almost 10:30. Your aunt told me you're usually awake par 10:00 on a Saturday morning. For another thing, toi left the radio on. Finally, I wasn't able to wake toi for a moment." Erin said, "There's no need to be alarmed. I fell asleep while listening to the radio last night, and I guess no one turned it off. Also, yesterday was a long jour for me. I needed the extra thirty minutes." Allie said, "Okay, good." Erin said, "But I appreciate your concern. I'm glad people care enough about me to see if I'm all right." Allie said, "And I'm glad toi are, but toi really did scare me." Erin said, "I'm sorry." Allie said, "Don't apologize. I'm just glad you're okay!" Erin smiled. Knowing that there are people who care about her felt really good to her.
When I had entered the fifth grade, I was dreading it. I had heard rumors that the teacher was really mean. When I met her before school started, she seemed really nice. On the first jour of school, I was wearing one of my Beatles t-shirts. She noticed it, and she said, "Darling, I l’amour toi already!" I said, "Okay, then." She would take up for me all the time. The other kids often called me glasses. She heard them and said, "She has a name, guys. Her name is not glasses. It's Winter." There was one jour when another girl kept picking on me. I finally had enough and said, "I might look sweet and innocent, but that shit is for suckers, and I'm no lollipop." I looked at the teacher. She winked and said, "I heard nothing." I would have had her for the sixth grade, too, but unfortunately, I moved to Tennessee as soon as the school an was over. We both cried. We promised to keep in touch with each other, and we've kept in touch to this day.
