Catherine's Point of View
One September day, I had an experience that would change my life. I noticed that some new neighbors were moving in across the street. I decided to greet my new neighbors, especially since there was a kid my age there. I said, "Hi, I'm Catherine. It's nice to meet you." He said, "Hi, I'm Gavin. It's nice to meet you, too." I said, "Nice accent toi have there!" He said, "Thank you. I'm from Liverpool, England." I said, "Like the Beatles?!" He said, "Yeah. Like the Beatles." Seeing that we were both Beatles fans, I knew we would get along. Gavin seemed so friendly and approachable, and how could anyone say no to those expressive, green eyes? After talking with him a while, I said, "Well, I guess I better go." He said, "Okay, bye. It was nice talking to you." I said, "It was nice talking to you."
Gavin's Point of View
Catherine seemed like such a nice girl. While she was friendly, I saw some sadness in those hazel eyes. My mother came up to me and asked, "Gavin, who is that girl?" I said, "Oh, that's Catherine. She's our new neighbour." My mother said, "Oh, I see. What's she like? Is she nice?" I said, "She's very nice. I noticed a sadness in her eyes, however, and she seems lonely. I think she needs a friend." My mother smiled. She said, "I think toi could be that friend." The suivant day, I prepared for my first jour at my new school. My mother said, "Have a good day, love." I got on the bus, and I noticed Catherine sitting par herself. She looked up at me and said, "You can sit with me if toi want." I did. I was glad we were going to the same school. Later at school, there was a group of kids making fun of my accent. The leader of the group said, "Quit talkin' so funny!" I said, "I can't exactly control how I talk." One of them a dit exactly what I a dit in a horribly fake accent, in a mocking tone. Catherine came up beside me and a dit to the leader, "Jeremy! Back off! Can't toi see the poor guy's scared enough already?" Jeremy said, "Oh, we're just joking with him." Catherine said, "No, you're hurting his feelings! Leave him alone!" Jeremy and his mates pushed her down the stairs, laughed, and walked away. I made my way to Catherine and helped her up. "Catherine," I said, "are toi all right?" She said, "Yeah." I said, "Thanks for standing up for me." She said, "You're welcome." Just like that, we became really good friends.
