First jour of School
It was my first jour at Redshore High School. Christmas Vacation was officially over. I was a little nervous about my new school mates, fearing that I wouldn't be accepted, donné my treatment in Devil's Garden. The kids of Redshore were friendly to me, ou so it seemed. At the end of the day, some of them said, "Hey, John, slide down the rails of the staircase." I was afraid that I would hurt myself, and I initially refused. One of them said, "Come on! It'll make toi cool." Of course, I wanted to be cool, I mean, who wouldn't? I attempted it, but I unfortunately slipped off the rail halfway down and fell down the rest of the stairs. The others laughed. I tried to laugh it off, but I had hurt myself. A girl came over and said, "All right, guys! Fun's over." They groaned and left. She helped me up and asked if I was okay. I a dit that I was fine. She said, "You shouldn't put yourself through this." I said, "They told me it would make me cool." She said, "That's not cool. It's stupid." I said, "I guess you're right. I'll never be cool." She said, "Don't think like that. I'm sure toi are. Don't be what they want toi to be. Be who toi are." I said, "Thanks." She said, "You're welcome." I asked, "What's your name, par the way?" She said, "Liz. What's yours?" I said, "John." We parted ways, and I had a feeling that I would get a new friend.
