According to the Disney version, the Queen is jealous that Snow White is the fairest of them all and she's not.
But in this retelling, the Queen claims that:
A) "All I loved is dead because of Snow White"
B) "I told her a secret and she couldn't keep it"
So obviously Snow White caused something/someone Regina truly loved to die.
The problem with Regina is that every time toi start to feel a little bit of sympathy for her, she goes off being a jerk again :( So I can't imagine Snow doing anything worse than she has.

Hm it does seem the King wasn't involved, because with the Genie it seemed like an affair hadn't occured before. But from what she tells Kathryn in 1x06 it does seem to be a person and that it was a guy. I heard someone suggest that maybe the guy was the loup from Little Red Riding capuche, hotte which actually could make sense. Snow did mention helping Red with something when no one else would, maybe it had to do with the Wolf? Maybe the secret was the man could take on a loup form and Snow told someone and he wound up getting killed maybe?
