when does jacob cut his hair too short i think it looks better short does anyone else?

In New Moon Jake cuts his hair short because it's plus convenient(Sp?) that way because when he shifts into a loup his hair would be longer if he had long hair so he cuts it short.
And ya i think it looks better that way too.
