James Lafferty (# 1):
Fans absolutely love the whole relationship. That makes me so proud. So I say if the fans want it to work out that badly. I would love to see them get what they want. At the same time I think they should trust that regardless of what happens they’re gonna see some great storytelling.

James Lafferty (# 2):
You know, it seems that there is this genuine relationship there between the characters, and it started as something sort of based on betrayal and deceit. It then kind of transgressed over into something based on actual true love. So, I think that it’s a trasition that the fans really bought into and I think that people really enjoy to watch.

James Lafferty (# 3):
How did I get such good chemistry with Joy? Well, the writers really, really gave us something to work with, with that relationship. There’s the Nathan and Haley relationship, and it’s something that surprised everybody initially and it was something that everybody started to believe in. And so, you know, I think the chemistry just kind of evolved from the characters and just playing that role, believing in that role, and getting behind it 100% committing to it. I think it really has helped us both to grow as actors and play the roles well.

James Lafferty (# 4):
I think Nathan & Haley… well [Mark] Schwahn always says that he had that sort of as an “ace in the hole” the entire time. As he was writing the pilot script he was planning on doing that, he really didn’t know how it would pan out or what would happen. But, the fans have responded so passionately towards it, and I’m not really sure why.

I love Nathan and Haley. James has just been so amazing to work with. So it’s been really fun to sorta create those characters and navigate the crazy waters that are Nathan and Haley.

I think that so many fans initally fell in love with Naley because of the development of their relationship. It wasn't love at first sight... it was real. Love develops over time and it involves changing yourself, staying true to yourself, finding yourself, and becoming "one" with the other person. And it was awesome how we saw both characters change and watched their relationship change and actually evolve into something beautiful. We didn't see Nathan go straight from being a jerk to being a great guy Haley deserves... we saw him really struggle in learning how to be a great guy. We saw him aspiring to be better and sometimes succeeding, but sometimes failing as well. And we saw Haley's struggle to learn to trust Nathan. It wasn't a magical moment in which they both met and completely fell for one another. It was a relatable gradual process that was incredible to watch. And I'm glad James recognizes that :-)
