There are a few rare exceptions, like Shrek 2, but usually they just ruin the original for me. Oceans 12 would be a good example of that :(

Trilogies are great. For instance when I first heard that they were making a Shrek Two, I said, "Darn it! Well, if they do that, there better be a Shrek Three." and many years later there was. If they do a Shrek Four I'll march right down to Hollywood and give them a piece of my mind.
