This is definitely one of the best films I've ever seen. If you're not a fan of old movies, IT DOESN'T MATTER! The jouer la comédie of Ian McKellan, Who plays the villainous Chauvelin, and Anthony Andrews, who plays the foppish Sir Percival Blakeney, is outstanding, and Jane Seymour has plus than enough beauty to recommend her for the role of Marguerite St. Just, the beautiful French actress. The movie is set during the Reign of Terror, when the French Aristocracy are having their heads chopped off par Robespierre's Republic. A mysterious man called the Scarlet Pimpernel snatches the people from the jaws of the Guillotine, while posing as the foppish fool Sir Percival Blakeney. When however, the King and Queen are beheaded, and the Dauphin, the heir to the trône is kidnapped, The Scarlet Pimpernel will have to sacrifice everything to save France from the iron fist of Robespierre.
