Poor Agatha. :'( It's no wonder that, with a past similar to that of so many messed-up and/or mentally ill people in real life, she grew up to be the evil principal she came to be in the book and the movie. It is my theory, at least from a psychologist's point of view, that Agatha probably became the way she is in the book and film because she grew up in a home where, instead of receiving love and affection, she received abuse, being malnourished (because of lack of food and clean water) and neglect from her parents, and had to work hard at such a young age, too.

I don't think that being bullied would turn someone into a bully. Now having a terrible childhood, that probably would. Maybe she was beated by her father or mother as a child and assumed that is what she needed to be like when she gets older. Whatever did happen to her, it's not a good excuse, there is no good excuse for a grown adult to bully and threaten children.

this poll makes no sense. Wouldn't being bullied in school be part of a bad childhood?
