Mark Fischbach, better known as Markiplier, is a YouTuber from Ohio, who specialises in Let\'s Plays of video games, particularly those in the horror genre.
At the time of writing, his charm, sense of humour, and amusing reactions have earned him over 800,000 subscribers since launching his channel in 2012, and it\'s expected that he will reach one million before the end of the year.
Mark is truly an inspiring man, and not simply because he has been so successful in such a short amount of time.
He describes the year prior to starting up his channel as the worst year of his life (the details are explained in his Draw My Life video), and while what he went through might have driven some people to despair, he picked himself up and clawed his way to the top, bringing a lot of people happiness in the process.
In addition, he is a generous and selfless person. He has raised over US$100,000 (NZ$120,000) for various charities by holding monthly fundraising video game livestreams, one of which he hosted on his own birthday, and to which he always donates a large amount of his own money.
In response to fans sending him gifts, he stated that while he appreciates the gesture, he would prefer it if they had donated the money to charity instead of spending it on him.
Long story short, there is more to Mark than just being a Let\'s Player: he is resilient, kind, selfless, and sweet, and he does everything with a smile on his face. I am proud to call myself his fan, and I certainly consider him my hero.
