I'd rather Johnny were the main hero. The way they made it we didn't get to see him much, as they killed him off before the middle of the movie. Besides I believe that he would be more appropriate for the part of Poirot, because the moustache would fit him!!!! He looks great in moustaches in General!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention the fact that the mother of his children is french, so he knows the language and he would be great in the French accent!!!!!!

Apart from all that, Johnny's body type is much more similar to that of Poirot! Kenneth Branagh was way thinner than Poirot has ever been in the novels and his face and head weren't
round enough. In the novels is mentioned that Poirot's head is like an egg! Furthermore Branagh had grey hair and is well known that Poirot dyed his hair tar-black for as long as he lived! And last but not least, what moustache was that? Poirot had a small moustache, instead that one in the movie reached his sideburns! Of course all that were errors of the direction too.

To conclude, I wanna say that if they intended to make any novelties about Poirot in this movie, the only one worthwhile would be make Poirot more sexy! That was the only thing missing from him in the books and that only would be achieved if Johnny , who is a demigod, and nobody else, got the part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!­!!!­!!

Yes, of course Johnny would have more screen time then 😄 But that's not the most important, really? I don't think Johnny's head looks like an egg and as it was said in books Poirot was a quite small height (okay, lets make all the other actors wear high-heels, easy, isn't it) and Poirot of course isn't a sexy character and never will be. I have heard that they are making one more Kenneth Branagh Poirot movie now, seriously Johnny doesn't need to have another Jack Sparrow type of franchise role (and become associated with just one character for the rest of his life). That poor guy has been solving crimes in quite a few movies (Sleepy Hollow, From Hell), let's just let him try something a bit different (at least about taking a part in this kind of crime movies) after all the role of the victim of a murderer is the most important because a crime story wouldn't be crime story without a dead body.

I'm not against Johnny having variety and challenges. I just don't want him being left out of things! And you make it sound almost like Jack Sparrow was a burden . Jack Sparrow was, IS a blessing, sent from his heart to ours! And about playing the same character repeatedly, he is going to play Grindelwald in more than one movies and that doesn't seem to bother him . So, why not play Poirot in a couple of movies as well? And he may have played the detective again, but he has also played the bad guy or the one who gets murdered again and this last is so sad! As far as Poirot never having been sexy is concerned, Holms and Watchon have never been considered sexy characters either, but Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law pulled off the whole "sexy Holms" and "sexy Watchon " just fine!

Of course, he has been in every kind of role and of course he can pull off any character perfectly. I don't say that POTC and Jack Sparrow is something bad, just... You probably know what it's like with superpopular franchises, actors become associated with that one role like Tom Cruise with "Mission Impossible", Daniel Radcliff with "Harry Potter and Johnny with Jack Sparrow. And as a consequence to that their other achievements, other, good, even brilliant roles and movies get a bit forgotten. Of course Johnny's case is not that bad yet, but imagine in a few years you will open culture encyclopedia and find Johnny with "Best known for playing captain Jack Sparrow in famous" Pirates of the Caribbean" movie series". Luckily Johnny is already too old and popular for that, but the truth is that actors who are associated with one role might have problems with finding new projects to take part in after it (mostly young actors who got famous with that one big franchise role). Johnny already had to get rid of being "that guy from "21 jump street"" in the beginning of his career. Of course Johnny has been killed in a few movies (however I can't remember him being the main victim in a detective movie before). And of course they could make Poirot sexy, but they didn't. After all maybe Johnny even didn't/wouldn't want to play Poirot, as we know he has turned down many role offers through the years because of his own reasons.
Anyway, that movie came out a year ago, we can't change anything so maybe better let's watch and like it the way it is? Only if you are not going to make a petition about remaking that film with Johnny as a Poirot of course 😉

Alright, I get what you're saying! You have some really good points! What I find the most heartwarming is that we all here in this site have Johnny's best interest at heart! We even fight a little bit over who loves him the most! It's endearing!!!!!!!!!

Yeah,it should be more active! I've seen many videos - tribute to Sparrabeth on YouTube so I don't get why those who created them or commented favourably on them don't come to vote on my Sparrabeth polls. At this point I would also like to clarify a couple of things about what was said above. I didn't create this poll to make them remake the movie. I just wanted to see who agrees with me! I've seen polls in this site about whether Sweeny Todd should have stayed with mrs Lovett or whether Alice should have stayed with Madhatter, that were created after the movies' release. Of course, if you ask me, if they did remake that particular movie, the better.

The other thing that I want to clarify is that , when I said about him making Poirot sexy, I didn't mean him overplaying it. He is sexy just being in the room, breathing! He doesn't have to do anything in particular. I just think that, if he actually had played Poirot, the same Agatha Christie would rise from her grave and say " COME TO MAMA"!!!!!!!!!!! The poor woman died in 1976 and didn't get to see his debut in 1984. Little did she know that that boy would make one of her worst villains look so hot that he'd actually make the snow, that kept the train stopped, melt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, you are so right, but if that really happened, as you imagine, I'm pretty sure Agatha would say "Nope, you are too good to play Poirot, in my imagination Poirot doesn't really look as good as you and I won't let you ruin your lovely face with tons of silicone makeup, but I have some "handsome man/boy" roles in my (other) works, so I'm sure we'll find something for you." XD

Seriously, if you want to see sexy, handsome detective, just watch "From Hell" or "Sleepy Hollow", easy!
