In my opinion, all the movies (except for GoF) are great, but they can never compare to the books. :D

I agree with PotterGal, the movies are great, but they're not the same as the books and you can't compare them to the books.

I think you mean "do justice to" not "justify", but in any case, no they don't. There is just so much missing...

the first movie was the only one that was like the book... but even in that one they modifyed the part where they get the stone (in the book they blast the devils snare with light, not slide through it) and they left the part out where harry had to choose the right potion to drink (1 would lead him back, 1 would open the next door, and 5 were poison).. the 5th movie was way off as well lol. They all are. the departement of mysteries scene was completely different

buuuut they're films and therefore a different media form. i think the films are good by themselves, but based off the books? haha nooo.

The actress/actors chosen were just SO wrong (Hermione, Harry, Ginny), they cut out scenes that means so much and replace them with worthless ones that just makes me go 'what...'????

Hey, poisonfang, don't be so mean. I think the pictures are funny. And I hate it when people add answers like "Maybe" that don't make sense to this pick. It is a yes-or-no question, not a yes-no-or-maybe question!

And I really don't think that movies do the books justice. Some of the actors are really terrible (Daniel Radcliffe) and they cut out most of the best scenes! I really hate the movies.

One of the things that sucks about the movies is that Dumbledore is such a huge part of the books - and so amazingly powerful that when he dies your just like "WOW! he CANNOT be dead! WTF" but in the movies he's just like a semi important character - i really don't think his death will impact [people who only watch the movies] as much as it should.
It was like when Sirius died in the movie it was just like some character dieing but in the book it's like "OMFG Sirius is dead NOOOO!"

Is is just me or Daniel Radcliffe is the worst actor ever? I always remember one scene from HP3 when after hearing about Sirius´s story he is supposed to cry and he makes this weird expression God just some tears! Is it that difficult? After all he is a millionaire now so he could try to improve... Then, obviously it is an adaptation so they have to take some great parts of the book out, but fortunately the last films were pretty close

i dont think movies can ever compare to books. especially Harry Potter. they have this feel about them that gets u trapped in the story and u cant put it down. i think there is much more detail and suspense in the book than the movies. xox

Ooh, I'm the first 'yes' to comment on here. Cool.
Anyway, the movies can never have anything on the books (is that not almost always true?), but they do - for the most part - reflect the books very well. I'm mostly talking about the first, second, and sixth here because they were so true to the novels, but, as a series, they do a fair job of doing justice to the books (for movies, which I have never put much stock in).

they were up to Half-Blood Prince. it was kind of a let down for me. they left out many key points in the book. Like the last quiddich game, which was also supposed to be harry and ginny's first kiss. but other than that they were like the book, but nothing is exactly like the books!! everyone knows that!!!

i agree with vixie79 it was a wonderful book so much backround and quite a bit of action but they cut everything out and i didnt care for hbp movie. it was all thats love stuff and it was just annoying but the dubledore death scene and when harry finds out hes the hbp is the only part i liked in that movie its like kissing dancing kissing fighting crying ACTION

I only enjoyed the first 2 movies. PoA and HBP were crappy, they were completely destroyed! Especially in the last movie they left out the most important scenes, which were the memories of Voldemort's past in my opinion. I have no idea what are they going to do to the 7τη movie to explain the whole situation... (sorry for bad english )

Not even close. OOTP and HBP were terrible. I think the first 4 movies stick to the books relatively well, but OOTP and HBP just ruin it. OOTP is the longest book, yet the shortest movie. HBP cut out random things like the battle at Hogwarts during and after Dumbledore's death and replaced it with the Weasley's house burning down. DH part 1 does a pretty good job of following the book, but even so it is an amazing movie on its own.

I think the films did great when it came to making it suspenseful, but there were a lot of things I wished they left in. They did chance a few things that I wish they didn't.

I like the films, but some things really bothered me.
