I just think that they're both musicians (or rather Nick wanted to be one and now Pete is one), they're both loyal to their girlfriends (and sometimes mistakenly perceived as stalking them) and both have that kinda puppy dog look about them and just a lot of the same character traits.

They're both pretty awkward, but really funny and amazing. It was excellent to see him in a role that brought back some Freaks and Geeks memories!

Yeah I don't think Nick and Marshell have the same characteristics at all. True they are both musicians but Nick was a shy outcast kinda bad boy. I think Marshell is more of a fun loving guy who wouldnt do the things Nick Annapolis did on freeks and geeks.

His name isn't Marshall in the movie, it's Peter Bretter but that doesn't really matter. Yeah I guess I see your point. I just thought Peter was kind of a grown-up version of Nick. Plus, he wasn't that outcast at all, he had plenty of friends. True, they were the freaks but still. And other than Lindsay, he was actually kind of the goody-goody of the group. Apart from the pot of course :P

I think that's pretty much Jason Segel playing himself.

The nude break-up scene is based on real-life events
And the talk-singing scene from F&G also happened to him...apparently he got the idea to do this to some girl (Linda??) from F&G even though it was written to be creepy

Jason is pretty much the ultimate adorable creepster

I think there are similarities. He's really great at playing a sweet guy with his heart on his sleeve.

I don't think they're almost he same, but I don't think they're completely different.

Jason is, yeah, really good at playing a guy who is lost in love, when the love is actually becoming detrimental to him, but... Nick was so sweet and dumb. Peter was a little more normal. I don't know. I think they were going through similar things and handled them the same, but I don't think, as people, they were that similar.
