harry potter was my childhood.

I was a bit young when it first came out but as soon as I could read it properly I stole my older brothers copy and read the first one in 3 days.

I started reading them out of curiosity. I had to see just what had gotten the religious community's panties in a wad ;)

I actually had to read them at school. A huge part of my childhood, too :)

I picked up the book in forth grade, but only got a few chapters in before returning in to the library. Later on in the year I checked it out again and I've been hooked ever since.

When the books came out I was 4 years old so... I first read the 3 one in 2002 and after that I was totally hooked!

My grandma and grandpa gave the first one to me for Christmas in 1999, when I was 7. Gosh, I should write them a thank you note or something! ;)

My parents gave me the book to read when we went on vacation when I was in second grade. I finished it in a week.

i never wanted to read it because everyone did. but when i was 15 i got curious and started to read. from that day on i was addicted!!

I was 4 in 1997. I started reading it when I was 12 and by then the 6th book was already out. I was a fan since the movies tho.

This was when they released it in the US. My mom got one of the first copies and she read it aloud to me over Christmas break. I was 7 and a little too young for it, so I waited a few years (until PoA came out I think) before I read them again.

I'm pretty sure it was 2000. It's hard to remember that far back! ;) It might have been 1999... Argh! My grandma bought them for us. She had already read them and she thought we should too! It was definitely before the 4th book came out...

summer between fourth and fifth grade i discovered an excerpt of the chapter where we first meet trelawney and read it. absolutely fell in love with it. the next day my mother came home with the third book for me. after i finished that i became a very rabid fan. i finished the first three within that year and was on pins and needles for the fourth. i was 11 when i first started =) so i basically grew up right alongside the trio. seriously, that seventh book marked the end of my childhood. *cries*

i was in second grade, so it was sometime in late 2001 or early 2002, can't remember. My mom had checked Harry Potter 1 out of the library to read to my brother and i. She only made it to ch. 3 before falling asleep. So i picked up the book and started reading it to myself (not aloud!). I've been a reading fanatic ever since.

Rather late, yes, but I've been a huge fan since.

i cant stop to read it!!! i never like to read before i read harry potter. its a little bit hard to read it cuz im still a little, but i always buy the next series and totally clear to read it one years later. lol.

Very early in 2002, I got the books for Christmas in 2001. I was 6 years old and I've never stopped loving them. Best present I ever got.

My second grade teacher got it and started reading Sorcerer's Stone to us when it first came out in the US and I've been an avid fan ever since! (We still talk to each other occasionally about the books). I'm proud to be an original HP fan!

Once America got it, I could not let it go.

Or was it 04? It was when POA was coming out in theaters.

That day started the best 10 years of my life!

I have been reading HP sence it first came out I was six my mum and dad had to help me read it at first :3

Either that or 1999. I can't remember for sure. Dates aren't my thing. I just remember I wasn't allowed to read it at first because of all the people talking about how evil it was because of the witchcraft. Luckily my mom realized how silly that was and gave in. :)

I was a late starter

I first heard about it in late 1999, but it wasn't until the summer of 2000 when I finally gave it a whirl myself. I bought and read both Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets that summer. The first book was so amazing, I just had to read the second straight after!
