I dont think its that HP fans are rude. Twilight fans can be just as rude too. It just depends person to person really. Some of us are very dedicated and tend to get carried away sometimes...
WHhat I really want is a proper twilight vs. hp debate. One with rules (like not cursing at each other and stuff) and strictly reasons, not opinions. And none of that edward is hot crap! And I want to have it where its like we débats the characters. And then the plot. Then the écriture and so on... B/C its these aléatoire debates that get people stereotyping each other like this. If we could all débats peacefully we could actually have a very good and fun debate!
Because there're far plus dedicated harry potter fans than twilight and usually clubs with the bigger number crush the other. But in this case, I assume it's because a lot of people truly hate twilight...and mostly because of the unbearable and overwhelming lust and l’amour which engulfs the whole plot (I think that). Though there are people who l’amour twilight, the overloaded l’amour will be its failure. I may even enjoy it if it wasn't all that love.
All series/crazes in pop culture have normal fans then insane fans (yes, including Harry Potter). Unfortunately, a majority of Twilight fans are insane (as well as Justin Bieber fans). Because most of them are 12-14 they're very immature and rude. They hate to accept that there are thing that are better than Twilight. Their lives revolve around Twilight. In all honesty, if toi a dit that Twilight was better than Harry Potter and you've actually read the book ou watched the films then I honestly wouldn't care. Everyone has different opinions on things. However, many Twilight fans actually refuse to read ou watch Harry Potter because they jump to conclusions saying that Twilight is already better. Not to mention that a lot of them are scarily obsessive. The one that really pisses me off is when Twilight fans react to the films/books' critical responses. When they're negative they claim that Rotten Tomatoes and Stephen King are 'jealous' of Twilight's success. What, so now people can't state their opinions? Oh and another thing, AL0t Of DeM TyPEE LyKee D!$$ it drives me nuts >___<
Well, there appears to be some insane mindset that Twilight fans are stupid because a specific age group enjoys txt styles typing. (You cannot tell me there's none of that in the Harry Potter spots. I've seen it.)
An extension onto this theory is that there's a general mindset that if one does not like something, that something and everyone who likes it is immediately inferior, without reason.
Also, I believe "anti- Twilight" became a huge fashion trend which many people got carried away with and turned aggressive about it. And for some reason I have no theory on, many Harry Potter fans belong in this group. Possibly due to media comparisons.
I would much rather not generalize, but the experiences I've had and the things I've observed (posts on this spot, the Twilight spot, and the Harry Potter spot, as well as non fanpop sources), the Harry Potter fans get very combative when Twilight is mentioned in a non threatening and the Twilight fans are indifferent when Harry potter is mentioned in a non threatening way. Personal attacks on fans are thrown into the mix just because it's a step further.
Because what? Suum cuique tribuere - to each what he deserves. There are good people, there are vile people. Some of the above are fans of different fandoms, and when vile meets vile, it can only result in rudeness and even outright attacks on each other's dignity.

I don't think all the HP fans should be generalized like that. Just as I don't think that the statements about "all the Twilight fans being crazy" are fair and mature because it doesn't really contribute to the truth since EVERY fandom has crazy/immature/rude fans as well as well spoken lovely people. I used to be a Twilight hater back in a day, but now I'm mostly irrelevent to it because I was misfortuned to come across much worse YA fiction. And among my Friends there are incredibly nice and intellegent Twilight fans and a lot of them l’amour Harry Potter just as I do. As for the craziness, HP fans tend to insult each other all the time because of different opinions and shipping preferences which is not an ok thing, but something that does happen because not all the people can behave mature. Same goes for Twilight fans ou fans from any fandom. It's not even the HP vs. Twilight war, but the general fandom life that has it's good and bad sides.
Because twilight fans carry the reputation of being obsessive and stupid, along with Justin Beiber and animé fans. That's why people mock them a lot. The fact that there are comparisons between Harry Potter and Twilight invites plus of those jeers from the Harry Potter fan side. That's why.

Seriously not all of us are like that, in fact some of us even stick up for Twi-fans. And ya know, it's not one sided Twifans can be just as mean as HP fans...

I actually did read Twilight, and Harry Potter. I liked HP better, and I respect Twilight fans opinions. And not to seem rude, but I don't think every HP fan is a bad sport about it.
My point is exactly the same: everything is subjective obviously. I think fandoms in general tend to be immature because not all the people are being nice and polite when it comes to handling different opinions. It is not even about Twilight vs. HP thing, it is a general flaw of every fandom.
I'm not sure why people feel the need to be so obnoxious. I think that a little bit of good-natured banter can be fun, but it definitely shouldn't escalate past that. I try not to offend anyone, but I have had my commentaires misinterpreted as insults before.
