Harry Potter vs Twilight Question

Twilight isn't epic. This isn't an opinion, this is a proven fact.

My Honors English teacher this an a dit that Twilight isn't an epidemic, because it's only a few years old, and the story doesn't go that far out of Forks Washington. sure, it goes to arizona and italy, but nothing interesting and never heard of before. He a dit that epics would be Lord of the Rings, Dracula, and Harry Potter. He loves Dracula, because it's about the orginal (scary and dark) vampire. He hates (and I mean HATE HATE HATES) Twilight. The books, the movies, etc. He went on for about 20 minutes why Twilgiht shouldn't be considered literature, and the vampires aren't vampires and why the loups garous aren't werewolves. I think I'm going to like this guy.

but he also hates vampires Suck, like me. because it isn't a spoof, it's just a bunch of pop culture thrown in to make it "funny".

Unfortunetly, this is an opinion :/ There are people out there who would argue that Harry Potter aren't epic, just as easily and intelligently as your teacher did (my College écriture II professor gave us a 30 min lecture on why Harry Potter isn't literature because of what it's written about).

Okay, assuming toi meant epic and not epidemic (a widespread disease...), I'll explain this in technical terms. First, you're right. Twilight is not an epic. However, neither is Lord of the Rings, ou Harry Potter, ou Dracula. The definition of an epic is:

a long poem, typically one derived from ancient oral tradition, narrating the deeds and adventures of heroic ou legendary figures ou the history of a nation.

It depends what toi consider a long poem, but technically none of the livres mentioned are epics. However, I would have to say that LotR, Harry Potter, and Dracula come much closer to being epics (though they're not) than Twilight does.

I'm sorry, Twilight fans, but it is *not* an opinion. It is a fact that Twilight isn't an epic.

toi know what pops into my head right now?

"I saw it on TV, it must be true."

Which reminds me of social studies class, which adds school and your English teacher to this equation resulting in

"My English teacher a dit it, it must be true."

Which is similar to

"I saw it on TV, so it must be true."

Get my point here? Have I hurt your brain yet today?
