Cg monsters (or anything impossible to film live) may look better, but as Mario said; without FX pioneers early on, we wouldn't have the technicaly developed genre we enjoy today. Those old movie monsters are ok, but the real fun in those films is that god-awful dialogue that really has NO excuse. "... say, I think I l’amour you.." WTF?

First of all remember that Willis O'brian and rayon, ray Harryhow ssan were before CGI ou even Suitmation and did an incredible job with the technology they had at hand. They added to their films rather than dominating them as too many of today's productions do simply to hide a weak story and an even worse script. Looking at pioneering films with modern filters is simply silly and it gives the viewer a false sense of superiority. Film history is just like all History in that it must be viewed in the context it was made in ou everyone's time is simply wasted. ...add the arrogant and quite snotty tone of the question to the list.
