It makes no difference to me other than enabling me to edit my profile. I mean technically it limits me from editting my profile if you look at it from a different perspective but eh XD

I personally DESPISE this gold shit. Like, did we honestly ask for this? No. Fanpop was just fine without it, and it's the one thing I actually hate about this site. I really want to add a new, large banner of Nick, as well as a Nick-themed background. But I can't do that unless I "earn" it first.

It's honestly a really retarded idea, because we didn't even need this. We were perfectly fine being able to customize as we please, whenever we wanted. But, nah, Fanpop wants to turn into North Korea. And TBH, this gold shit is basically the reasoning for me "spamming" the image section on the Random club. I want my animated Nick-themed banner, damn it.

Gold has been pretty much a disappointment. Basically we were promised things with gold without really being told what they were but it sounded great until we realized we were basically paying fake money to customize our profile pages which ironically we can do for free on other sites which maybe was they're way of getting us into contributing more which still doesn't make sense.

I like the idea of decorate your own profile page like most of other website did, but the "pay first then you'll get it" system is just sucks. The other website allow us to adding banner/background image for free, why on fanpop we need to pay for that?

Maybe because this website as a whole is based on "earning" things. You "earn" medals. You are rewarded for the work you put into this site. I really don't see a problem here.

Although admittedly I am pretty impatient for them to do the rest of link. Y'know, after nearly three years. XD

But we're paying just to upload. We do that anyway, in clubs, user icons we could've done that without the gold system.
I just think it''s a bit disappointing to pay for something that we're doing already. I wouldn't mind so much if I weren't paying to upload but paying for a really cool image or gif options that fanpop was supplying like a banner or background of a band, celebrity, sport, etc or paying for more options that fanpop promised.

I mean everywhere else on this site we're uploading images for free but we're paying for the process to customize our profile page and they're calling it a perk? Where's the fun?

I love 'em, but i wish there was a faster way to earn it.

I like the option of being able to add backgrounds and banners to my profile, and alternating them after a while. I also think it's a good idea to have some sort of deterrent preventing people from voting on club appearance polls if they don't particularly care about the club - though it's probably a weak deterrent since it only costs 5 golds per poll.

I don't really understand these comments about gold being hard to earn. It's fairly easy! You get gold for every contribution you make.
