fanpop Etiquette Article: Your Spot ou Not Your Spot?

I think that this article belongs here in opposed to 'Fanpop Spots' because it is a fanpop Etiquette issue, as well as a spot ou club issue.
When toi rejoindre a spot it appears in your mises à jour as one of your spots and so do the ones toi create, I've heard some people say that a spot that toi created 'isn't your spot' now I know that the spots belong to fanpop and I realize that 'most' of toi would be very proud of your creations just as I am of mine.
However if toi are the spot creator then 'in my opinion' the spot is yours to some degree, toi create the spot, only toi can change the banner, icone and description and even though other fans contribute material it is up to toi to maintain your creation.
I think that it is a bit harsh for some people to say that a spot 'you' have made 'is not your spot' when we all deserve a little credit for all of our efforts and hard work and I'm talking about respect from other users in their attitudes towards both new and older fans.
I am very proud of the spots that I've made and I consider them to be, 'in part' my spots, after all if I didn't make them they wouldn't be here, the same as any spot that other fans have made.
Having a dit all that I would be very interested in how other fans feel regarding this issue and as always keep having fun on Fanpop.

germany123 sualey for example does a LOT for the HIMYM spot and she didnt create it and i dont think cammie created the bewitched spot but we all know its her home. so i dont think it terms of possession i think it terms of contributions..people become too possessive on here sometimes with certain spots you may only join if you have a certain number of fans or forums youre supposed to ask for your name to be added before you comment..its ridiculous!

vider69 Yeah, its like the 'Fanpopular' spot and I hate to name names but it seems that you are only welcome there if you have 1000 fans or over and some spots are supposedly 'by invitation only' that's just stupid and I have seen a few spots like that, in my opinion the spots are for everybody and you should be able to join what you like, it's similar to what you said in the forum the other day about the spots with no topic.

Sappp I have said nobody owns a spot or a spot isn't somebody's property on some occasion: that however had nothing to do with people just being proud of making a spot. It was mostly people who say 'why are people ruining MY spot' or something alike. It when people get posessive for no reason (if somebody troll a spot then you have the riht to be a little posessive) but sometimes it is just because people added pictures of a character they don't like or something like that. I also DISlike the 'The ...-spot made by user123456789' thing. If somebody says: I made the '...-spot and now it has 3000 members and I'm so proud' than I would just be happy for them, just as I admire people who made a lot of (usefull) spots. Have to check out that Fanpopular spot. [EDIT] I meant to say dislike the 'The ...-spot made by user123456789' thing. I really, really dislike it.

jarik So far I've only created one spot and I would be delighted if everyone on it would contribute it. I didn't create it for myself I created it for those in the Fanpop community who share my interest.

harold There's two problems, for me, with the idea of calling a club one created as "my club": 1. It's confusing: the most obvious interpretation of "my spots" is that the person is talking about the clubs for which that person is a fan. If one means "spots I created", one should say that. 2. It's prideful to the point of being exclusive. If it's "my spot", then, to some extent, it's [u]not your[/u] club. To echo what Sappp was saying, this is especially pathetic when the user puts their name in the icon or banner for the club: "made by !!!" One should be recognized for the contributions one makes - which one does if one is really passionate about a club's topic - to call out for recognition otherwise is, to me, somewhat fearful that others will get more recognition. "Sure, is a fanatic in 'my spot' for all her image uploads and I don't have any medals, but I'm still better than her because it's 'my spot'!" The "avertise your new spot" (sic - I don't know why she's never edited the thread title) forum thread could be employed by users to talk about clubs that any of their fans want you to see (not just the creator), but instead it's mostly a place for users to present long, long lists of all the spots they've created in a sad sort of one-upmanship. That's what I think. Just a note on a factual error in the article: the creator is not the only one who can change the icon, banner, description of a club. People get these changed all the time, either after holding a discussion about the change in the club (IMO, good etiquette) or (much more often, sadly) without discussing it with anybody (BAD etiquette), whether or not they are the club's creator.

McDreamyluva great article and I agree with you. okay so if the creator unsubscribed from the spot, how do we get the banners/icons changed?

vider69 That's up to the spot creator, I think, or you could contact fanpop.

jedigal1990 great article i agree with you mostly but at the same time i don't think its right for people who created the spot to think they have control over what goes on there i mean in that respect i feel it belongs to everyone and everyone has the right to contribute and join as they wish
