I've come across some I like, but there are others which were taking me out of the story with how hard they were trying to get it to fit me - there'd be parts of the narrative which'd have you inserting your own hair and eye colour, your own home town etc and not just your name.

Tbh, I feel these work more like an OC story written in second person. A lot of them give your character a backstory which is nothing like your real history, to fit into the fandom. There was one I read where I couldn't even believe the character would have my name - it was an AU set in America in the 1920s and it would be too weird that no one would comment on someone with a Welsh name.

^ for those reasons I tend to find them to be a little off putting.
