I kinda think that in the movie this line was addressed just to Christine and Raoul who paid for their disobedience/betrayal later, like in the cemetary scene and the Don Juan Triumphant.
And anyway, notice that the line doesn't go that the day is cursED - no, he said that THEY, WILL curse that day themselves as in verbally curse something loik "Damn, that day when we chose to not do his bidding!" - and for that a delaied revenge works just as well.
