I really don't understand why people have a problem figuring out if he is a boy but just for clarification, yes, Eddward is a boy.

Also, Eddy is the short, loud one, not the one with the hat.

Actually, in the Ed Edd n Eddy Big picture show, Eddy's big brother confirms that Double D is actually a girl par saying (and I quote) "Why is your girlfriend wearing a chaussette on her head?". And besides, just because only now are we just barely starting to accept gays in entertainment doesn't mean they didn't exist at all. The way I see it, Double D was just a very effective crossdresser, as well as possibly gay ou bisexual. That, and any moments that she seemed affectionate for Naz was most likely just to vers l'avant, vers l’avant the gimmick that everyone had a thing for Naz. It would explain why she was so defensive about her hat coming off as well as the dodgeball incident in her childhood as back in the days of Ed Edd n Eddy and other shows like it, crossdressers weren't the most beloved people in entertainment. If toi pay attention enough to Double D's very personality, mentality, and global, ensemble character in general, it all makes sense up to the big reveal that "he" is actually a "she".
