Yesterday, I did a match-off of the best Renaissance film, pairing 2 Renaissance films against each other, and toi guys voted which one was better.

The Little Mermaid vs The Rescuers Down Under

The Little Mermaid id the movie that kicked off the 10-year span of the Disney Renaissance, and The Rescuers Down Under was the first sequel Disney ever made released a an after. The results for this match was not surprising at all, since most people a dit The Little Mermaid is better in every aspect, and some people did not even see The Rescuers Down Under, and sided with The Little Mermaid automatically.

Comments
- I don't overly like either, but The Little Mermaid is an extremely good quality film. Plus in The Rescuers Down Under, the way they portray the Aussie is so boring (Animated_Paint)
- I've always had a preference for the musical films (kenzieiscool)

Beauty and the Beast vs Aladdin

The suivant tow films were one of Disney best and introduced us to Disney Princesses Belle and Jasmine. par 1992, The Renaissance only got better with the releases of these movies. Both were big hits, and I knew this match was going to be the closest and the votes were practically divisé, split in the middle, but ultimately Aladin beat Beauty and the Beast par 10%.

Comments
- Aladin is one of Disney best. I like this film because in this original Aladin film, Aladin first met Jasmine, Carpet, Genie, The Sultan, and Disney's best villain of them all, Jafar. I don't hate Beauty and the Beast. I like it and I think it's spectacular. It's a classic. Yes, Aladin is definitely my 2nd favourite Aladin film after my 1st favourite Aladin film, The Return of Jafar. (Pyjamarama)
- #2 and #3 on my DP movie list. Aladin is plus my style ans I like the characters better too (dimitri_is_hot)

The Lion King vs Pocahontas

The Disney Renaissance was at it,s peak, and wanted to hit it big with these two movies. Both were in production at the same time, and Disney's A team worked on Pocahontas instead, thinking it was going to make plus money out of the two, boy were they wrong. When The Lion King was released in 1994, it almost made $1 billion dollars, and is considered Disney's best film, and people have a dit that Pocahontas started Disney's decline. The results were not surprising at all, as The Lion King got over 90% of the votes.

Comments
- In Pocahontas the characters are boring and the story is terrible but the animation and musique keep me liking the film. However The Lion King just excels at all elements of character development, story, animaiton, songs and musique so it is definitely better. (BKG201)
- Much better in pretty much every way. It has a wonderful story arc! (AllegroGiocoso)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame vs Hercules

Even though Disney weren't releasing huge moneymakers like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King, they were still enjoying successes with these two films. Though these two are considered the weakest in the Renaissance, they still have many fans. A lot of people a dit that Hercules was a silly concept that should have never been made, and that The Hunchback suffers from bad comic relief, but an all around good film. The results were not surprising for this battle, as Hunchback knocked Hercules big time.

Comments
- The story was plus interesting and plus well presented. I l’amour the musique plus and the animation. I might like the characters plus in Hercules, but I can't think of something else. (dimitri_is_hot)
- Easily! Hunchback has a wonderful background score, animation, songs, and characters. It's a bit dark fir my tastes, but it's still a very majestic film. (AllegroGiocoso)

Mulan vs Tarzan

The final films of the Renaissance not only made plus money than its' récent predecessors, but it was also a lot better received, almost as received as "The Big Four" . These two were fantastic films, and were one of the last good films Disney would put out consistently until recently. I knew this final battle was going to be a bit harder than the last two battles, but the results were predictable as well.

Comments
- I will always pick Mulan. The score, the action, the characters, I'm in l’amour with this movie (dimitri_is_hot)
- Mulan is my favourite Disney movie. It has great characters, animation and music. Compare it to Tarzan which has all these things but not as good (BKG201)

Some battles were close and suprising, but others were won easily and everyone knew the answer before the end of the poll. Round 2 of Renaissance Film vs Renaissance Film will be here soon.
