Why does everyone think Ariel is Danish? Is it because of the Danish author? Ariel is Greek, she is the daughter of Triton, Son of Poseidon.

Where are toi getting this info from? Nothing tells me she is in Denmark waters ou land. People keep saying this but providing no evidence. I suggested Greek, and backed up my theory with evidence; she is the daughter of Triton.

Actually, Ariel is Danish.

The Little Mermaid was set in Denmark.

Although it happens in a (probably unusual) warm moment and there are animaux not common to be found in Denmark. It happens because it's a Disney movie. It's not supposed to be accurate. Some people claim it's Croatian, Italian, Greek, Caribbean (or other places according to their desire) but it was supposed to be in Denmark. Recently some fans questioned Disney about Ariel being black claiming she couldn't be black because she was Danish . Disney officially replied to that par saying "there are black people in Denmark and after all she is a mermaid, so she can be any race"

Nevertheless the movie happens in a fictional place and it's a product of fantasy. toi can imagine whatever toi like since it's not told in the story where it's happening. But the closest oficial answer at the moment is Denmark even if it doesn't seem to be accurate (and it doesn't need to be. Mulan and Beauty and the Beast are far from being accurate when it comes to China and France)

Actually Ariel she's Greek. Since Ariel in The Little Mermaid is Triton's daughter and according to Greek mythology Triton is the son of Poseidon, this makes Ariel the granddaughter of Poseidon. Athena was the wife of King Triton and the mother of Ariel. sirènes are mythological creatures, appearing in folklore across the globe for thousands of years. I can see why people would make the assumption that Ariel is danish, because the little mermaid is based on the original story par Danish auteur Hans Christian Andersen.

Disney's Little Mermaid takes place in the Mediterranean Sea Why? Because of the songs and the place, there's palms and Eric's château structure looks Spanish/Italian.
