It's not accurate at all. Chinese audiences recognized it correctly as a purely western product which is why the live-action film is going to be totally different.

The issues here don't bother me personally. Actually, I quite like the movie as is, though I would have liked it if Mushu was handled a little differently and if the culture was utilized a little more. For example, how about a less comedic take on the ancestors and something more traditional or epic?

And if there was no death penalty for women who join army( some Chinese people say it wouldn't be inaccurate for some dynasties) or if there death penalty for women who join army but the Emperor was intentionally made like a complex and remorseful anti-hero instead of symbol of wisdom and justice.

I basically don't want this movie changed, which is why I HATE what they're doing with the live action remake.

It could've been better but I'm not sure how they would manage that with her being a guy for most of their time together.

I would have liked them to develop their relationship more since I enjoy the romantic parts of the Disney princess movies. <3

Have to say, it's very close to perfect.

ditch the cheesy 90s references; this movie tried way too hard to be current and cool
terrible gender humor that has aged badly and makes me cringe harder during every rewatch.
