I think it's more "Be kind because it is the right thing to do." It's only because it's a fairy tale that she actually is rewarded. In real life there is no guarantee at all that our kindness will be repaid. But that doesn't mean you still shouldn't do so. Kindness is a virtue in it's own right.

Definitely this. After all, that's what "A Dream is a Wish..." was about. And the only reason her fairy godmother came to her was because Cinderella still had some hope in her, as she clearly explained.
