With the exception of Cinderella, they shouldn't compare, they're good in their own way.

I think it's the other way around. People say they like the newer films but can't hold a candle to the renaissance or classics just because those are the films they grew up with.

Honestly, it's both. People who really loved the old films can't feel the same way about the new ones, because they don't relate to them very much, and people who like the new ones, don't feel attached to the old ones, because they aren't "hip" enough and feel "dated." And round and round the argument goes....

Years from now, The Princess and The Frog, Tangled, Brave, and Frozen will be "dated" and "old." And soon, they too, will be heavily dissed as being "behind the times."

I guess so.
I'll admit that I have praised a movie "for being old." What I mean is, I'm wowed by the quality of the movies, which were made in a time that couldn't possibly have used modern technology to edit or improve anything.

depends on how old. I know a lot of Renaissance fans who both dislike the Walt-era movies and these Revival ones.

but yeah, all these will at some point be as criticized as they criticize Peter Pan or SWAT7D or whatever now. stuff like The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas is already getting slammed for not being politically correct enough (and heaven forbid THAT).
