I will admit, Ariel does drag the movie down for me some, but I still love the movie. <3

I know that some people dislike it because of Ariel, but not everyone.

I can't think of any other reason I've heard from people.

^^Agreed, Ariel really does ruin the movie a bit for me, but I still really like this movie. I don't think the characters should ever affect how you feel about the movie, because it just sometimes spells biased to me.

Generally though I don't hear many complaints against the film apart from "Ariel gave up everything for a man" or "Ariel is a selfish brat." I mean, I don't often hear "The story is really weak," or "The music sucks," or "The characters are really obnoxious/simplistic" or even "The animation is really dated." (Well, people do kind of say "She's got big 80's hair," but that's it.) Generally, and I'm just guessing, people seem to love everything about the film, except for the controversial heroine.
