Yes, I am a freak for splitting this article into two parts, but I can mettre en ligne only 20 pictures per article, and I needed more. I want comments, that is- critics. Please be harsh because I really put lot effort and research, and I want my articles, if they aren't good enough, to be even better. I hope it isn't too long, enjoy it.
10.Beast's Il était une fois castle
Once shiny and magnificent, after the curse, château turned into dark and cold. With appearance of damned place, it was even harder to to break the curse because people were to scared to approach, not to say come in.
To achieve the look of cursed place, animators have used the well-known technique:put some gargoyles that used to be angels, make it dark and all in ruins so it looks very uninviting . And that's the reason, that's why fanpopers eliminated it, it didn't seemed like "home, sweet home".
But what best represent whole château while it's Il était une fois is west wing. It's totally destroyed as a result of Beast's bad mood, loneliness and frustration. It also keeps Beast's most precious belongings: rose and mirror, and that's why entering West wing makes Beast so vulnerable.
What gives this gloomy château that makes toi depressed little vivacity are Il était une fois objects. We can see various objects that used to be people but now have shape of household objects. We can see almost everything, from our favoris like teapot and candlestick to angry and huge stove.
9. Snow White's château
The château is probably inspired par Segovia château in Spain. The château contains elements of Bavarian and Spanish architecture. Inspiration for the dungeon were sketches of Dante's "Hell" from "Divine comedy".
Symbolics: The opening shot of the château was half in shadow and half in sunlight to represent presence of both good -Snow White, and evil - Queen in the castle. When Snow White is no longer in the castle, the château is shown in dark.
From one side, château is surrounded par sea, and from the other there is forest. château is situated on small height, and around it is a village. château is surrounded par walls (which are quite easy to jump over, so I don't see point of them) and inside there is backyard full of birds and flowers.
The things we see in the château are: wishing well, trône room with peacock decoration that represents Queen's vanity, secret mirror room which Queen visits every morning, dungeons, and Queen's secret laboratory. Animators also wanted to make Snow white's room and dungeon where Prince would be captured but they gave up on that. The reason why this château is eliminated is simple: people find it boring.
8.Forbidden city
The only palace that is based on real place. In the movie they made exactly the same replica and maybe that's a turn off because there is no l’espace for creativity, imagination, and all those secret rooms we love.
In this palace emperor lives with his family. The château has two parts: Inner court and Outer court. Only emperor and his family can be in Inner court, while Outer court serves only for ceremonial purposes.
In the movie we see only Outer court when general Shang bring the news about Huns to emperor and at the end of the movie when Huns attack it.
We can see motives of Chinese folklore like dragons and other animaux on decoration. Dominating couleurs are red, brown and yellow.
The places we see are trône room, various hallways where Huns and Shang's left army were fighting, and huge backyard where people gather for ceremonies.
7. Fa's house
The only house in haut, retour au début ten didn't make it further because- it's just a house. This house looks like most of the aristocratic houses from that period montrer us that Mulan's family was rich.
Fa family had their family temple, which they often visited and where they prayed to their respective ancestors. Through the visits to that temple we can see the care and of family members for each other because most of their prays were for their family.
The Fa house is a huge prowl that has lots of fields, huge garden, which was important for Chinese society because that was the place where they spent most time with their families. Inside of the house we see typical dining room with no chairs, sort of armory, and rooms of Mulan, grandma and her parents
Motive of Great Stone dragon is very important in the movie. The Great Stone dragon is protector of the Fa family and so for we can see it on doors, as a statue, paintings, military equipment and many other things.
6.Aurora's château
The architecture of Sleeping Beauty château is a composite of French and Bavarian castles from the middle age and so for there are lot Christian and gothique motives like one that were used in medieval cathedrals and castles. Inspiration was most probably Neuschwanstein castle, and partly Segovia castle.
The château is surrounded par river ou moat, like most of the medieval castles, which served for the defense. On it's entrance there is drawbridge which we see while mass of citizens comes to celebrate princess Aurora's birth, also that's the place where Philip fought against Maleficent.
During the movie, especially while the fées were putting people to sleep, we could see many various rooms: trône room which is also ballroom, dining room, Aurora's bedroom, the room where she was received before Maleficent hypnotized her and many hallways.
The reason that this château was eliminated is probably because it looks cold and uninviting, and, like any medieval castle, is not the healthiest place to live because of poor hygiene (rats, plague).
To me, the style of it isn't pretty. The château looks angular, too stony, with no paint on walls, and odd. It is hard to follow the layout because the château is immense and complicated.
