This is another sequel I haven't seen in forever. Longer than forever, actually. I would say I'm excited to watch this but after Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World I'm not looking vers l'avant, vers l’avant to watching this one.
Tonight's rewatch: Cendrillon II: Dreams Come True
Last time watched: 2002
How much did I like this movie as a kid?
The beginning of this story is exactly the same as the one about Pocahontas 2; I wasn't into the original that much when I was a kid, but then this cartoon Disney movie with familiar faces came out, begged my dad to get me a copy, fin. But unlike Pocahontas 2 I actually did like watching this movie for the most part. I liked the first story about Cendrillon adjusting to palace life and the third story about Anastasia finding l’amour but the middle story was just sort of "meh" to me. Even though I had the dvd I didn't watch this movie too much, only a few times after getting the dvd.
How much of this movie have I forgotten:
I forgot the mice were easier to understand in this movie so that's one nice change I'm happy about. I wish the mice were as excitable and talkative like they were in the first movie though.
I totally forgot that Cendrillon not only had human Friends (apparently?), one of those Friends was the baker Anastasia falls for. I'm surprised that never came up at all in Anastasia's story.
After watching the original I have to say I'm confused that there was a rule that commoners couldn't be at the banquet when in the original there was a ball where all the eligible maidens, commoners included, were allowed to attend. I know they were two different balls, but the ball in the original involved the Prince finding a bride. If the King is fine with a commoner marrying his son, why not a bunch of commoners at a banquet?
I know in the remake Cendrillon a dit she forgave the stepmother but in the original there isn't any indication that she would ever forgive her stepfamily so why would her stepfamily want to go to Cinderella's ball and why would she invite them? I didn't have a problem with Cendrillon helping Anastasia since Cendrillon has always been kind and patient and Anastasia was still the same Anastasia. I liked that Anastasia didn't reform quickly and we see a different side of her instead of her just being an evil, ugly stepsister and I liked that Lady Tremaine didn't randomly become good in the end during Anastasia's story but I wish the movie showed plus of what Drizella was thinking at the end ou did a story for her too.
And I guess Disney forgot about Cinderella's horse from the first movie, Major. And the original ballroom too, I guess? Unless this palace has multiple ballrooms?
Movie:
This movie seemed plus about teaching children to be true to yourself like Il était une fois Tales was. It was still an interesting movie to watch and it was a likeable sequel. None of the original characters were too ooc and there might be some things I'd like to change like some of the modern jokes and the songs but it was still fun to watch.
Rating: 6/10
How much has my opinion changed?
I liked watching it and I had some fun watch. But, once again, I was bored during the story about Jaq becoming human and was just waiting for it to be over and I didn't care for the fat jokes in that story. The story about Cendrillon and the one about Anastasia are still my favorites, at least.
Would I watch it again?
Maybe if I was watching with children
suivant movie will be the Cindella remake!
