So this was a topic that was brought up a couple weeks il y a that brought on a big debate. There were people who a dit a fat princess wouldn't be a good role model, that obesity kills people, that just because there's only thin princesses doesn't mean kids are going to worry about it, that the princesses have to be beautiful, etc.

I used to read a lot of livres and watch a lot of tv growing up, mostly Harry Potter and Disney. As much as I l’amour the Harry Potter series and Disney movies, the way fat people are depicted is really upsetting. I mean there's Dudley who's described as being as fat as a baby orca and then there the comedy relief in Disney films who are fat half the time (Mr Smee, Gus, Le Fou, etc) ou there's times where the ugly people are fat (Ursula).

I've been chubby all my life and I've been made fun of for the rolls on my stomach and I've had to deal with commentaires about what I'd be eating. Half of the time it'd be from sisters and the other half from school. So seeing how fat people are depicted in media made me feel even worse about myself.

I know what some of toi are going to say:
"I was made fun of for how I look but I didn't try to change anything about myself!"

Here's the thing though; everyone is different. toi can be made fun of for being too skinny and still not try to change anything about yourself, toi can be made fun of for being too fat and still not try to change anything about yourself. There's people with a lot of confidence, and there's people with almost no confidence.

"But an obese princess could encourage kids to be overweight!"

Not if done right! There are people who are fat who are still healthy, it just takes forever to lose weight. If we had a princess who was overweight and wasn't shown eating in every scene she's in ou at least be eating healthy foods then that could help encourage kids to eat healthier. Also Idk about toi guys but it's not like skinny people in films ou livres are great role mannequins when it came to eating healthier too. There's been characters who eat what they want and still not gain a pound, what does that tell kids?

Examples:

"I wanna stuff some chocolat in my face"
"I wanna stuff some chocolat in my face"

Almost every episode/movie these two are in they eat their weight in nourriture
Almost every episode/movie these two are in they eat their weight in food

Fun fact: My husband is chubbier than me. He weighs a couple hundred pounds but he's not unhealthy. In fact he's healthier than I am. He goes on plus walks than me, works out more, eats better (sometimes I just don't eat ou I eat something unhealthy) and he loses only a little weight at a time. Me? I could almost pass for thin but I don't have the same routine as him. I don't eat breakfast like him (he almost always eats oatmeal), I rarely go on walks with him, and most of my diet consists of sandwiches, chips, and chocolate. I'll eat something healthy every now and then but it's not as much as my husband.

"But obesity kills people!"

True but toi know what else kills peope? Anorexia and bulimia

"Princesses have to be beautiful!"

Please don't think this way, it's hurtful. Not everyone fits into the idea of beauty, there's going to be some fat people toi don't think is pretty just like there's going to be skinny people toi don't think is pretty.

Also it's also not that hard to make animated women of all shapes and sizes be beautiful. There's beautiful animated fat women, buff women, and short women

Even a princess slips up sometimes...
I think this article has been done before, but I want to go ahead and liste the things that I think are each of their biggest faults which are what make them who they are, and make us l’amour them even plus :)

Jasmine
I absolutely l’amour Jasmine! She's got this fiery personality and is strong willed and speaks her mind. This is something I l’amour about her, but can also put her at fault sometimes. She's a bit too harsh and feisty which makes her appear bitchy to some people. She comes across as too snappy and almost mean sometimes (like me! xD). This just makes her all the plus realistic and lovable...

I'm actually looking vers l'avant, vers l’avant to watching this a little plus than I did when I had to watch Maleficent. This remake may not live up to the standards of the original but personally it's always been enjoyable to watch.

Tonight's rewatch: Cinderella
Last time watched: 2017-2018

How much did I like this movie as a kid?
The first time I watched Cendrillon I did like it and there were some changes I liked but then there were some changes I really had to question. Even with the problems I have with this movie I still like to watch it every now and then.

How much of this movie have I forgotten:

Since the...

This is another sequel I haven't seen in forever. Longer than forever, actually. I would say I'm excited to watch this but after Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World I'm not looking vers l'avant, vers l’avant to watching this one.

Tonight's rewatch: Cendrillon II: Dreams Come True
Last time watched: 2002

How much did I like this movie as a kid?
The beginning of this story is exactly the same as the one about Pocahontas 2; I wasn't into the original that much when I was a kid, but then this cartoon Disney movie with familiar faces came out, begged my dad to get me a copy, fin. But unlike Pocahontas 2 I actually did...

Here's the article for Pocahontas!

I know in the past I've made commentaires about how I don't like this movie because it's been a dit that the tale of Pocahontas saving John was a lie and I've also a dit I can't stand Pocahontas and John together because it's gross Pocahontas was aged up for this movie. However I will watch this movie and just enjoy it without thinking about those things.

By now toi should all know what I write about in these articles so I'll just go ahead and start!

Tonight's rewatch: Pocahontas
Last time watched: Summer of 2011

Now with all the issues, people have with Disney, one of the films that have legitimate grievances is Pocahontas. And as toi can imagine, because there ARE legit grievances to be had with Pocahontas, sites like Tumblr have an absolute field jour with it. Personally, the plus research I did on the situation around this film, the plus I was actually fascinated par it.

I know it's easy to write this movie off but how it came to be is a lot plus nuanced than toi think. It actually was gonna be a story closer to what happened in history but then Jefferey Katzenberg's overwhelming desire to get another...

As asteriamalfoy recently reported on the club wall, it appears that Moana will soon become the newest member of the Disney Princess lineup. The club's reception to the news is a mixed bag, which is the latest example of how the general fanpop opinion (namely, this club's opinion) doesn't always match that of the internet. It's interesting why that is, and I will attempt to find the reason here.

Before going forward, be aware that everything that I consider an "opinion" of fanpop and/or the internet is a generalization. True, there are some users on both this website and the rest of the worldwide...
