Ariel's rose Dress - Seriously, Disney? - Princesses Disney - fanpop

I was looking through my articles and realised I didn't have an article in which I examined Ariel in depth. I decided to amend that par écriture about a subject it's fun to think about - Ariel's rose dress.

Most fans can agree (I think) that the dress looks quite bad on Ariel. There are several reasons for this: the sleeves are ridiculously puffy and makes her arms look misshapen and the shaping of the jupe looks... Odd. I just think it's too puffy and big in general.

Another populaire reason for the dress looking odd is that a red hair/pink dress combo doesn't work:

However, I personally don't feel this is the case. Disney has proven that it is perfectly capable of making a rose dress look super pretty on a red head (a.k.a. Giselle from Enchanted). Look how cute she looks here!

Some of toi may now say that the outfit only works because her hair is MUCH lighter than Ariel's, but I disagree. Look what happens when we put Ariel in almost exactly the same dress:

I don't know about you, but I think she looks stunning! Why couldn't Disney put her in a dress plus like this? A different shade of rose and different sleeves and Ariel's rose dress could have been BEAUTIFUL.

Would something like this be TOO much to ask?

I guess it could be argued that Disney HAD to make the dress shaped like that with odd sleeves to make it look like a ball gown, but if they had to give her a light rose and puffy dress, couldn't they have donné something a lot plus like Lottie's from TPATF? Her dress is over dramatic, but still prettier than Ariel's.

Overall, I feel that Disney could have made Ariel's ball robe look amazing if they had put a little plus time and thought into it. They just had to change the shade and the shape and I would have adored it. I am really glad that they have decided to scrap the dress almost altogether now in merchandising, because it makes me a little sad to think how breath-taking Ariel could have looked.

Silverrose1991 I love her ballgown! It's my second favorite outfit of hers, after her wedding dress. And I think redheads look fantastic in pink, especially shocking pink. Unpopular opinions, I know.

Tygers_Eye Um... you know that puffy sleeves and skirts like that were the style in most eras, right? We think it looks ridiculous now, but off and on for many years between the Renaissance and Victorian Era (which had the infamous "leg-o-mutton" sleeves), puffy sleeves and skirts [i]were[/i] the height of fashion. http://shoomlah.deviantart.com/art/There-s-Something-About-Her-204302353 As for the color, I guess it could be explained that it seems Eric is the only noble that lives in the castle (seriously, WHERE ARE HIS PARENTS??!!) and they didn't expect Ariel's since she just showed up in rags one day. But they needed a pretty dress to put her in for dinner, so they probably unearthed one of the few or only fancy evening dresses for the occasion. It doesn't look perfect on her because, in-universe, it wasn't designed for her. It's borrowed clothes to tide her over till they can tailor her own.

Diazdiaz95 It's my least favorite princess dress. It has such an eighties feel with the puffy sleeves and all and I don't like clothes with an eighties feel usually. Nice article. Giselle's dress is much nicer.

AudreyFreak Actually, there's something called color analysis (it is scientific), saying that certain colors can only go with certain colors. Giselle is in fact a ginger (and in reality Amy Adams is just a blonde that dyed her hair ginger) which is different from a redhead. I don't think Giselle looks at all good in pink, but at least she is leaning towards blonde there, so it doesn't look as bad as Ariel's tomato-red hair and drab pink dress, two colors that cannot be pulled off successfully together. Gisele herself might look pretty, but that's totally different from the [b]colors[/b] looking pretty, as the color with her coloring doesn't match. Now, Aurora, with her muted coloring, may be able to pull off that pink, but as a Spring (even if her hair color is completely fake), the closest to pink Ariel or Giselle or Merida would be [url=http://www.adorama.com/images/300x300/ro32.jpg]salmon[/url] or [url=http://images.myperfectcolor.com/repositories/images/colors/MPC00010247-2.jpg]peach[/url]. Not criticizing your article or anything, I'm just a bit OCD with color analysis. I used to read about it all the time in high school and I'm still bad about analyzing stuff! I need to do an article myself about it. Also, 1) Ariana isn't a real redhead, and 2) her shade of red isn't even remotely the same color as Ariel's. She has that trendy wine-red, Ariel has ketchup red. Their coloring is just about as different as it gets- Ariana looks very Italian, olive skin, deep brown eyes, dark hair. Ariel has doughy light skin, blue eyes, red hair.

Onyxis AudreyFreak- I have read about color analysis as well, but I nevertheless like Ariels dress on her. I like interesting color combinations, and the color in my opinion is rather close to salmon. If it was truly pink like Aurora´s it would look horrible like you can see with the pocket princess comic where Merida is wearing pink. Also the white and the off-shoulder design helps. It is not the best dress for her, but is sweet and better than the redesigned green one in my opinion.

cruella I'm not fond of the dress either. But, I do agree with Tygers_Eye that was the style of dress, during the era in which the movie was supposed to take place. I also think they could have chosen a better color then pink.

CRaZy_rawR Her wedding sleeves are MUCH puffier though. The size of her head in fact. I think the dress looks good on Ariel, they just needed to pick a brighter or lighter shade of pink. :3

As many of us know, Disney Princesses are not always viewed in a positive light. Some people believe them to be passive, codependent damsels in distress. But is this really true? ou does each Princess offer a kind of strength in her own way? Here, I have carefully ranked the princesses in terms of being good role mannequins for young girls. We'll start at the bottom of the liste so we can work our way towards, in my opinion, Disney Princess' best role model. I have spoken to plenty of parents to make sure that I have diverse research and opinions.

Disney Princesses being sorted into Camp Half-Blood cabins (Percy Jackson)

Hi!
I'm a huge fan of Rick Riordan's books, and I thought this would be an interesting idea! First of all, let me explain toi a bit: there are 20 cabins in Camp Half-Blood, each of them belongs to a god, and their demigod children live in their respective cabins. For example, Percy Jackson belongs in cabine #3 because he's a son of Poseidon, and Annabeth Chase belongs to cabine #6 since her mother is Athena. The 20 cabins are:

Eyes are considered to be windows to the soul. Eyes are the most important facial feature. They beautify your face and are a beauty trademark to be admired if beautiful. I have aquamarine eyes which I spend time examining them and stare at many other people’s eyes. I decided to rank Disney princesses par their eyes. And it is unique that I prefer big, wide eyes than small, tiny ones.

Hi everyone, I just watched Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera just now. While watching, I noticed some similarities with Beauty and the Beast! Here are my observations.

The Story-line

As toi may know, both stories are set in France, it also has a sad theme in it as it deals with a deformed person name Erik who wishes to be love. Ironically, the auteur of The Phantom of the Opera is par Gaston Leroux, who happens to be the namesake villain of Disney's retelling of Beauty and the Beast. The rose also plays a symbolic role in both stories.

Disney Princess Hair Ranking

I haven't done a ranking in a while, so here ya go. This article is dedicated to the amazing animators of Disney who gave us wonderful character designs and, sadly, unrealistic hair expectations! (*cries because my hair will never be as cool as DP hair*)

That being said, although every princess has beautiful hair, some manes are better than others. This is my opinion of their hairstyles, ranked worst to best.

So I really, really, really l’amour the Disney Princess dance sequences, particularly with the waltz, as I find it to be so sweepingly romantic! Princess Personalities: The Four Elements

This is a series I'm starting, I did some research, I'm not gonna say I was 100% thorough, and tried my best with each princess. Some of them were easy, some were harder than others. I won't talk about Anna and Elsa because 1. I hate to say it but it's hard to pin Elsa anywhere and 2. The less princesses to write about, the easier for me. Let's go.
