Why is Il était une fois such an unpopular Disney princess movie?

Well, to start, it's not a Disney Princess movie. It was suppose to be, yes, but Disney decided not to included it in the DP movie list.

Part of the reason is because it's mostly live action, but the main reason is because Disney didn't want to pay for lifelong rights to Amy Adams' image.

The Princess And The Frog

La Reine des Neiges was also suppose to join, but because it got so popular, it hasn't really. Moana is suppose to be a DP movie but we'll have to see how well it does first.

As to answer why Il était une fois itself is unpopular. I think it might have to do with advertising. If toi don't annoncer then not a lot of people are going to hear about the movie. And if they don't hear about it, well....

But Il était une fois is getting a sequel, so it looks like it was pretty populaire in some way.

I disliked the movie because there weren't many things that made it unique. To me, it just felt like a live action version of Snow White with a comical twist. If not for the comedy, I probably wouldn't have finished the movie.

Its not unpopular. Just because its not a Disney princess movie doesn't mean its unpopular. Il était une fois is a wonderful movie and is populaire and called one of the most underrated Disney princesses par many people. It is somewhat underrated and unpopular par Disney itself, though.
