I don't think there is a "Best" Princess...they're all wonderful. The most famous I think is Cinderella. Not just because she is my favorite, but just about EVERYONE knows the story, and I think she's the most iconic Princess.
According to Disney's merchandising departments, Ariel / The little Mermaid is the most 'recognized' Disney Princess and Film in foreign countries(I believe it has had the most translations of any animated film). However in America Cendrillon is only the most familiar when it comes to straight up merchandise.
When it comes to being brave, I'd say Mulan. She is definitely the most feminist and defies the oppressive rules her society places on her. Some would argue she is only seen as strong because she disguised herself as a man for a majority of the film, but I still like her.
But which is best is a matter of opinion. I think Ariel is best, but a lot of other people seem to think that Belle is best. And then there are also people who think Mulan ou Snow White are best. So again, that one is an opinion, not a fact that can be proven.

Wow! Aurora's hair looks really light in that picture! But it's pretty^^
Honestly, there are no "best" princesses, they're all icones for a reason.. but i think the most well-known would be Cendrillon (she even has her own château in Disney land/world!). My personal favori is Belle because she's nice, smart, and looks for good in all people. Mulan to me isn't really a "princess" but she is one of my favori heroines; she's strong, brave, and can kick any guy's butt xD

Actually, Cinderella's château is only in Disney World. Disneyland has Sleeping Beauty Castle.
I think the best princesses are Mulan and Pocahantas. First of all, Mulan pretty much saves all China and doesn't get saved par the one she loves, but she saves him instead! Also she just doesn't fall in l’amour with a total stranger like Cinderella, Snow White etc. She is the most challenged female Disney princess and inch par inch carves a place for herself! suivant is Pocahontas. What can I say. She takes her own path. She doesn't need a man to save her. She actually saved the man she loved! She is not scared to be exposed, but she stands out and stands for what she believes in.
