Why vermouth cares so much about ran and shinichi???

Why vermouth cares so much about ran and shinichi???

    
Why does vermouth care so much for Shinichi and Ran? Is it just because of that one time save they did for her? Cause for me vermouth is as ruthless as gin is, and I think if ever gin was saved once par those two, he'll shoot them down still and wouldn't even care... so whats up with Vermouth???

yeah I think it mostly has to do with that time in New York where they saved her. but I think it might also because Yukiko Kudo and Sharon Vineyard were very close Friends and so vermouth would have known Shinichi since he was a baby and just can bring herself to hurt him.
I don't know really it's hard to know what goes through her mind.
