This is the moment at which 18 an old Disney teen pop princess Demi Lovato emerges from personal trauma to step vers l'avant, vers l’avant as a young adult pop artist. It is no surprise that she would emerge from a stay in rehab and treatment for bipolar disorder with a statement of strength in song. However, it is her choice of collaborators that help make “Skyscraper” truly memorable. It sports the simultaneously fragile but resilient feel of collaborator Kerli’s work while being guided with the surefire mainstream pop hand of veteran Toby Gad. Here Demi Lovato looks serious about being not only a Disney teen idol but also a true pop artist.

Pros

Demi Lovato’s breathy, intimate vocals that evolve into a tower of strength
Riveting, vivid, inspirational lyrics
Sympathetic instrumental track

Cons

No significant negatives here

Demi also talked about the sound of Unbroken, her goals, and her favori singers.

About the R&B inspiration on her new album:

I chose to make this album plus R&B because it’s something that I haven’t done before and I just really wanted to experience what it would be like. I don’t know if it necessarily best represents who I am so I don’t know if I’d do it again on the suivant album, but toi never know. Sometimes I go into an album prepared to record say a pop album and it comes out pop-rock, so toi just never know what can happen!

About going back to acting:
