DelenaLove201_ 1) I'm worried about this too. Ian is the best talent they have. Not to put down Paul and Nina, but the show was at its best when Ian was in the spotlight. Season 1 and season 2 for me, were the best seasons of the show, before the originals came in. It was because of Ian. Also, a lot of characters are largely unexplored. Candice is awesome, but Caroline has been reduced to a Stelena shipper in the background. Kat has never actually been given a proper storyline for Bonnie. 2) It won't affect them. They're professionals. They can act like professionals :) 3) So what? They weren't true TVD fans anyway. If you love the show, you won't stop watching just because something happens that you don't like. But if the show follows the current trend and keeps going downhill, I can't really blame them. 4) I'm concerned too. I can guarantee that there will be a 5th season. Since the show has survived 4 seasons and created a fan base, I don't think the CW will pull TVD before the season ends. But I doubt that there will be a 6th season. Their writing has become sloppy, filled with plot holes. a lot of things are unnecessarily rushed, and at the same time, they've somehow lost their pace.

thisthat12 I don't think there's any need to worry about the ratings. TVD is the most watched show on the CW, and even if the show looses half of its viewers, it will still have better ratings than most of the shows on the network (besides SPN and Arrow maybe).

delenasalvatore Are you certain that the ratings listed in the above source are accurate? It's just that a lot of people don't necessarily 'watch TV' in the same way they used to. More and more are watching TV shows on-line. Is that being taken into account? I would say that the show's writing was strongest when Ian was centre stage. Of course, that was probably down to more than Ian - it was the producers as well. I don't know how much Kevin Williamson is still involved in the show anymore, or if he's just a producer in name only. He hasn't done an interview in ages, Julie seems to have completely taken over. I would say it is somewhat normal for a show - even a really good one - to start going downhill over the years. 'House' ran for 8 years, and ratings peaked at Season 3, and after that, the numbers dipped every year, and it ended with something like 8 million viewers in comparison to the 13 million it started with. It's very difficult for a show to remain consistently good and pull in high numbers every season. I am not worried about Nian's break-up. I might be the only one, but their break-up is probably the one thing I am least concerned about. Ditto the haters who threaten they'll stop watching. I bet they won't. They're just saying that because they're annoyed that things aren't going their way. If they REALLY think SE are epic soul mates who are destined to be endgame, like they always SAID, then they won't stop watching the show. If they do, then it just proves that DE were always bigger than their own precious Stelena. Because come on, how long have we waited to see DE get together, and how many obstacles we've had to face? The minute SE are over, SE shippers are going to walk away, when they've had their couple for 2+ seasons? How childish can they be?

panther-jewel 1) I really hope that they will give Ian the chance for something big in S5, especially with the other two main characters having two roles - while also a hole has to be filled with the Originals gone. And because there is not much said about what will happen to Damon in the next season, except for him watching over the town, raising Jeremy and protecting Katherine in combination with the further journey of the Delena relationship, I honestly expect something huge for Damon in Season 5 (he each season first only reacted to the situation at that time before his real storylines began). Although the show has many great actors, Ian undoubtedly is the best and gets the best scenes and actions, and the show-runners know that; Damon/Ian is most beloved, voted for and awarded. 2) I still don't know what rumours to believe, but Nian are professionals and chemistry never vanishes (one form of it only can change into another), so that I am not worried about this issue. 3) We DE fans have the overwhelming majority and there are many fans who watch apart from who has a relationship and who not, while not every SE fan decided to stop watching or will go through with the threat to do so; and those few people saying or even doing that make us Delena fans even worth more and more precious to the show-responsibles because we watched for many years without DE being officially together. 4) Every show loses viewers with time, TVD still has very high ratings for the CW, and more and more people watch the episodes online. We just have to wait and see how things will turn out, and I don't put those and other obstacles aside that easily, but I don't think them threatening enough to live in constant fear now.

Safora6 1. I, too, am concerned about Damon's role in the next season. I do hope that the writers have a serious and significant story for him in Season 5 because he is one of the show's most epic characters and placing him in the background in comparison to the other two of the trio will really suck. I also hope that his story arc is not just focused on Elena (as season 4 was - sirebond drama). I am a major Delena fan but I also like Damon as an individual and would therefore love to see an orignal and believable story arc that concerns mostly him and not merely because he is now with Elena. 2. I really do not think that the Nian break-up will affect Delena's relationship, passion, or chemistry. I do consider both Ian and Nina to be professionals who will act accordingly and not permit their personal drama to affect the on-screen relationship and story viewers have been watching for years and will continue to watch. Chemistry never does die, so I do believe that Delena will still have the epic chemistry that they are known for. Besides, Damon and Elena are quite different to Ian and Nina - the former mentioned characters (and couple) are fictional, therefore, it can be expected that their fictional romance will not be affected by factors that really have nothing to do with the show or its characters. 3. I think that Stelena fans will continue to watch TVD even though they threaten not to, especially considering the fact that Julie Plec said there is still hope for SE. If Stelena fans refuse to watch the show because Delena will be the main couple next season, then they are truly not TVD fans and should go read fanfiction centred around Stelena or watch a show called "The Stelena Diaries" because this is "The Vampire Diaries" where things change and shit happens, but you deal with it because overall the show is awesome and THAT'S why you watch it. Us Delena fans had to deal with Stelena for 2 seasons, and then contend with the push-and-pull of Delena in Season 3, only to have our hope extinguished at the end of Season 3 when Elena chose Stefan. Yet, WE STILL CONTINUED TO WATCH. Granted, we got what we wanted (Elena finally choosing Damon) but only in the finale of Season 4 - Season 4 was not a Delena season purely because the sirebond drama dominated their relationship in the season. Only now, in Season 5, can we Delena fans really have the Delena moments we have been waiting for for so long. If the SE fans are truly loyal to their ship, they will continue to watch and have hope that their couple will have their moments as well. 4. The ratings have dropped, but TVD is one of the CW's best and highest rated shows so even if the ratings drop a bit, I don't think the show will be cancelled. It's nothing new that shows that have lasted on television for more than two seasons have decreased in ratings, I suppose it just matters on the network and the show whether the show will be cancelled or not. I do think that TVD will last until season 6, because I don't think the writers can explore any new stories beyond 6 seasons that will not be lame, unoriginal, or stupid. I personally hope that there are only two more seasons. I am an intense TVD fan, but I do not want my favourite show to be ruined by bad or cheesy story lines, and I feel that continuing past 6 seasons will result in just that.
