The fact that Mulan is winning just shows people will always vote for their faves. She's totally fine following her cultural traditions. She was going along with an arranged marriage just because it was expected of her, follows filial piety, turned down the best job offer a Chinese woman ever got to go back home to help out on her family's farm. She's barely rebellious.

gotta put in a word for my girl miriam, who weirdly never gets included in these polls, even though there's no way the stuff some of these other girls do comes anywhere close to what she does. (lmao yeah, jane from tarzan is such a rebel.) what she's up against, and what she risks to change things...like, egypt is the most powerful entity in the world at that time, and it's built on the backs of slaves like her, people who have been conditioned their whole lives to accept being dehumanized and broken in the worst way. and she constantly puts her own safety on the line to help overturn it. it's so hardcore.
