Chapter 13
“Booth, the baby just kicked me.”
Booth wanted to rush to her side and feel the baby kicking for the first time but he saw everyone was watching. So he just smiled at Bones and bathed in her euphoric glow of motherhood. After a moment he realized he needed to get everyone back to work and hopefully Bones back safely in the lab. So he jokingly said.
“Bones maybe he doesn’t like partial skeletal remains.”
Bones looked at him and retorted smiling back at him. “Well maybe SHE does and is letting me know.”
A couple of the techs were smiling at this repartee and then everyone went back to work. Meanwhile Bones turned back to the skeleton and finished up with her examination. Booth turned to one of the other techs and asked if there was any other evidence which would indicate where the rest of the body was.
When they were both through at the scene and back in the car, Booth leaned over towards Bones and asked. “Is the baby still kicking?”
Bones simply took his hand and placed it on her abdomen where he could feel the first flutters of his unborn child.
“Bones he’s going to be a football player.”
“No she won’t.”
Booth smiled at Bones as he started the car and headed back to the lab.

In the lab Bones was doing a plus thorough examination of the remains. As she only had the upper half of the torso the determination of sex was based on the skull and not the pelvic bone. The teeth and other factors indicate that this was a young man in his early twenties. With the assistance of Hodgins they determined from his Bones that he was originally from the Midwest. The spectrometer showed the wave lengths of high concentrations of certain minerals found in northern Kansas and lower Nebraska.

With this preliminary data, Booth checked into missing persons to see if there was anyone that fit the description. He did find that there were about fifteen young men missing from the Midwest. He had dental records sent to the Jeffersonian to see if there was any match. Nothing matched so he expanded the chercher to include young men missing from the neighboring states. Booth had surmised that the young man could be a université student who was from the Midwest based on his age. He struck pay dirt when he found that there were a couple of young men missing from Georgetown University. One of the men missing was from Kansas and so he had the dental records sent to the Jeffersonian. Bingo a match was made.

That warranted a trip to Georgetown to investigate the man’s disappearance. He had not planned on taking Bones with him but she had other ideas. The night before at dîner he mentioned that he was going to Georgetown and may be back late so he didn’t want her to wait up for him but for her to go to lit early and get some rest.
“Why don’t toi want me to come with you?”
“Bones, I need to question a number of people and toi might get tired standing on your feet all day.”
“Booth I stand on my feet at the lab and I don’t see why toi don’t want me with you.”
“Bones of course I want toi with me but toi may be able to find out plus in the lab that will help with the cause of death.”
“Booth there is nothing plus we can do without the rest of the body.”
“Bones are toi sure toi want to come?”
“Of course Booth why would I not come?”
Booth thought about it and realized that Bones is right. Just because she is pregnant there is no reason why she should not come.

The suivant jour they were at the school and according to the school records the young man’s name was Timothy Dayton and he was from a town in Kansas. He had earned a scholarship in astrophysics and he was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. Booth was glad that Bones did come because he had no idea about what the professors was saying when it came to astrophysics but it was determined that three weeks il y a Timothy was having difficulty concentrating on his studies but other than that the professor was not aware of any other problems. The last time he had attended class was eleven days ago.

The suivant stop was at the fraternity and a young man par the name of Scott Allen a dit that Timothy was usually with three of the other guys who also are missing. Apparently the four students like to call themselves the Four Horsemen of the Acropolis.
Bones: “You mean the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, war, famine, pestilence and death.”
Scott Allen: “No, they thought it was funny to use acropole because they liked to play mind games with the jocks over at Gamma Beta Gamma.”
Bones: “I don’t understand what kind of mind games.”
Scott: “Well most jocks don’t even know the four horsemen let alone that it should be Apocalypse and not Acropolis.”
Bones: “Why use Acropolis?”
Scott: “They thought that as it sounded similar the dumb lug heads would not know any better and they could have a good laugh on them. It also was a reference to Greece where higher learning was valued.”
Booth who was just listening added: “Greece was also the origin of the Olympic games, which are sporting events for jocks.”
Bones looked at Booth and realized that he was a jock and how some of this was affecting him.
Booth then asked: “So Timothy and the other three guys did not get along with the jocks?”
Scott: “You would think that but rather the opposite happened. The jocks started hanging out with them.”
Booth: “What about toi and the rest of the fraternity?”
Scott: “No it was just those four. The rest of the fraternity had nothing in common with the jocks.”
Booth: “Do toi have the name of the jocks that hung out with Timothy.”
Scott: “Yes, Timothy was hanging out with Peter Harding, captain of the basketball, basket-ball team, Steve Dillon, and Marty Schneider who is on the hockey team.

As Booth and Bones left the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity and headed to the Gamma Beta Gamma house, Bones asked. “Booth, toi were in a fraternity in college. Would you, as a jock, hang out with a nerd?”
“Bones, where did toi learn that term?”
“I was called that in school along with geek. I was also called Morticia in high school but toi know that. Well did you?”
“No Bones I didn’t”
“Why do toi think these young men hung out together?”
“Well we need to find out because it is not normal for jocks to hang out with nerds?”

Booth knocked on the door of the seconde fraternity and he introduced himself to the young man who answered the door. “I’m special agent Seeley Booth of the FBI and this is my partner Dr. Brennan. I’m looking for Peter Harding, Steve Dillon, and Marty Schneider.”
“Well so are we. We haven’t seen them in over a week.”
Booth: “When was the last time toi did see them exactly?”
Young man: “Wait a minute let me get Chip, he was the last person so see Marty Schneider.”
Booth and Bones waited while the young man went to get Chip.
Bones: “Do toi think that the three young missing have something to do with our victim?”
Booth: “Well it seems strange that these three men are missing at the same time as the other four.”

At that moment the young man who answered the door came back with Chip. According to Chip the three jocks left the frat house together with the other four men on Friday afternoon. They did not return later and have not been seen since.
Booth asked. “Why did these seven young men hang out together do toi think?’
Chip thought about it for a moment before he replied. “It may have been something to do with the strange behavior of the sisters of a couple of the guys.”
Booth: “What kind of strange behavior?”
Chip: “Well Marty’s sister used to rendez-vous amoureux, date one of the other guys from the other frat house and all of a sudden she dropped him and would have nothing to do with Marty her own brother.”
Bones: “Do toi know where Marty’s sister lives?”
Chip: “Yea, she lives over at Phi Omega Delta along with the other girlfriends of Steve and Peter who also got weird.”
Bones: “You mean they also dropped their boyfriends.”
Chip: “Well yea but plus like they thought that they did not need anyone in their lives and that they were better off alone.”
Booth: “Well we will go check into this. If toi hear anything here is my card to call me.”
Chip: “I hope toi find the Magnificent Seven.”
Booth: “What did toi say?”
Chip: “Well all of the guys together like to refer to themselves as the Magnificent Seven. toi know that old movie.”
After they had left the frat house, Bones asked. “What old movie? I don’t understand.”
Booth: “It’s an old western movie based on the legend of the seven samurai.”
Bones: “Oh.” Bones looked at Booth and realized again that he knows plus than he lets on. She was again reminded that Booth is smarter than he lets people believe.
At that moment Booth’s phone rang and Bones watched him as he listened to the caller. After he hung up he turned to Bones and said. “Another body has been found and I need to go and check it out. It is going to be a long night and I’ll take toi accueil first.”
Bones: “Booth I’m coming with you.”
Booth: “Bones what about the baby?”
Bones: “She’s coming too.” Booth just looked at Bones and with a slight grin on his face put his arm around her shoulders.

They arrived at the crime scene within an heure and found Cam examining the remains. There was plus flesh on these then the last one.
Booth: “Cam what have toi found out.”
Cam: “Well there is plus than one body here.”
Booth: “How can toi tell?”
Cam: “Well there are three legs and two pelvic Bones both male and something else.”
Booth: “What else?”
Cam: “The scrotums are missing.”
Bones: “Well they could have been eaten par scavengers.”
Cam: “No there are indications that they were removed. And they were removed before death occurred.”
Booth looked at both Cam and Bones with a pained look on his face. He knew that they would continue to examine the remains but the thought of someone cutting off a man’s jewels sent chills down his spine.

It was a few days later that they confirmed the identity of the additional two bodies. One of them was one of the men missing from Alpha Delta Phi and the seconde one was Marty Schneider. Booth tried to get hold of Marty’s sister but she also was not to be found. The two partial bodies did not disclose the cause of death either and nothing further was happening on the case.

It wasn’t until almost three weeks later that something broke. The FBI had finally managed to locate Marty’s sister. She was in a secluded area living in a commune just for women. Booth was going to go visit the sister without Bones because she had her doctor’s appointment that day. As he was approaching the compound, he received an urgent message. The message was from the doctor’s office and it concerned Bones. Nothing plus was a dit other than he was needed immediately at the doctor’s office.

He had turned the car around and was headed back to DC when he got a call from Bones. He could tell that she may have been crying and all she a dit was; “Booth please hurry. It’s about the baby.” With that he turned on his siren and raced to the doctor’s office.

Brennan stared, a surprised look etched upon her face. “Who’s going to be murdered?” She waited for an answer but Booth smiled instead.
“Oh, you’re joking.” She realised, but then she paused. “I don’t get it.” Booth shrugged to himself “Anyway, we should focus on getting out of here.”
“Yes, toi are right, as always. Now, you’re office is made out of glass we should just shoot it. This should be easy.” Booth whispered...
